No Knight

She knew not what did lurk beneath,
In fear she bit between her teeth.

In darkness she looked out for gleam,
As she tried to swim across the stream.

With every push she did not get any further,
Struggling not to be dragged under.

She felt her life ripple, fearing a gasp,
All she wanted was his hand to clasp.

This moment was mixed with regret and tears,
But she was not ready to give into her fears.

Her vision soon begun to get dimmer,
And that’s when she saw a little shimmer.

With last of her strength she reached out for the light,
It got her out and she didn’t need no knight.

As she rose to thank this dearer,
She realized this light was just her in the mirror.
