" Well done boys ! we won " , screamed the Major at the top of his voice.

" We ? " , I asked myself rather baffled.

For the first time in the past 30 years , I felt so unsure about my actions.

My job , which meant the world to me seemed so silly at that point. All the medals , I had earned over the years just seemed like weights too heavy to carry for my 50 years old body.

My whole world came crashing down in front of my eyes.

" What exactly am I supposed to celebrate about? Shooting the 10 year old , who was yet to experience the most of his life or bombing the hospital where the staff saw me as a hero in disguise "

" How I could I take pride in destroying someone's house , killing someone's father?
Is this what I wanted to do?"

While I was thinking all this standing near a pool of blood , a young recruit came running towards me . " Congratulations Seargent! We've won . We'll be national heroes now. " , said he trying to catch his breath .

I turned towards him and smiled a bit.

But deep inside I cried and that day I realised " We won , but I lost."
