President William Ruto has refused to sign the Finance Bill that had sparked such outrage that protestors swarmed parliament buildings earlier this week, leading to at least eight deaths.
Lawmakers had voted to pass the bill - including a significant number from Ruto's coalition - but now it will return to parliament to be either revised, or abandoned.

Mass protests crippled the center of Paris with demonstrators waving Palestinian and South African flags against the National Rally’s shock first-round victory.
A graph by BFMTV shows the party at 34.2%, followed by the New Popular Front left-wing alliance at 29.1% and Macron’s centrist Together alliance at 21.5%.
The second round vote is scheduled for next Sunday and has President Macron on the ropes unless his party cooperates with the left-green alliance.
