Political Prisoner Reza Mohammadhosseini: "We Are Hostages of an Oppressive Structure"

From Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, political prisoner Reza Mohammadhosseini released a poignant letter detailing the grim reality of incarceration in Iran. "We wake up every day to the bitter news of executions," he wrote, "in a place where death has been turned into a tool for instilling fear. We are not prisoners; we are hostages of an oppressive structure that attempts to ensure its survival through pressure and control."

Approaching the seventh anniversary of his "captivity," Mohammadhosseini stated that he continues to face "fabricated cases, threats, and humiliation." He issued a pre-emptive rejection of any state-coerced rhetoric, emphasizing: "Any confession or statement extracted from me under pressure or threat is void and lacks any credibility from the outset."
Despite the relentless psychological warfare, Mohammadhosseini affirmed his resilience: "Despite all these pressures, I am still standing. The longing for my father—whom they took from me through security harassment—is renewed every day, and this wound remains in my soul."
