ISFAHAN, IRAN – Reports confirm the extrajudicial killing of 20-year-old Pouria Hamzei, who was murdered by a "finish-off shot" while in custody at an IRGC-controlled hospital.
On January 9, Hamzei was wounded in the shoulder by a government sniper and taken to Sadoughi Hospital. Although his injury was not life-threatening, the IRGC forces denied his family access to him for a week.
When the family finally received his body at the cemetery, they discovered that while his shoulder was bandaged, he had been shot again—this time directly in the chest. This fatal "finish-off shot" at the hospital is a clear example of a crime against humanity and the systematic killing of wounded protesters by the state.
