Premium Subscriptions Won Through Giveaways Can No Longer Be Transferred to Other Users

Our subscribers report that winners of Telegram Premium subscription giveaways, organized on channels, no longer receive activation codes for the subscriptions. Instead, the subscription automatically appears on their account.

Telegram Has Tightened The Limits on Publishing Stories

Users that are not subscribed to Telegram Premium may now only publish up to 2 stories per day, up to 5 stories per week and up to 20 stories per month.

Previously, such users were able to publish up to 3 stories per day, 7 stories per week, and 30 stories per month.

It is also worth noting that users with phone numbers from Russia, Ukraine, India, and Iran cannot publish stories at all without first subscribing to Telegram Premium.

Telegram Premium for German Users

Users who have German phone numbers now are able to purchase Telegram Premium via @PremiumBot.

These users now also can send Premium as a gift, purchase stars, view emoji statuses of other users, and use all other platform features.

Telegram Has Tightened the Limits on Publishing Stories

On top of this, the list of countries that are unable to post stories without Premium has expanded to include at least the UK, Germany, and Indonesia. We haven't verified if any other countries are affected and it is not known if this was intentional or an error.

Along with those countries, users with phone numbers from Russia, Ukraine, India, and Iran still cannot publish stories without first subscribing to Telegram Premium.

If you've lost the ability to post stories without Premium today and your country is not listed, tell us in the comments so we can update the list.

When the feature was first launched, Telegram allowed up to 3 free stories per day. However, in early February, the limit was reduced to 2 stories per day.

Telegram Begins Revocation of Fraudulently Obtained Stars, Gifts, and Premium Subscriptions

Some Telegram users have received notifications from the official Telegram account stating that their Stars, gifts, and Premium subscriptions have been revoked.

This action occurs when senders gift items to other users and later initiate chargebacks — likely through their bank. As a result, the funds are returned to the sender, and the gifted items or subscriptions are revoked from the recipient.

The @tginfo editorial team has no information on what happens if recipients have already spent the Stars by the time the revocation occurs.

1. Users probably could request refunds not only from banks, but also from app stores.
2. If users paid for a purchase from a bot with stars, and then request a refund of the funds paid for these stars, and the bank returns the funds, then the corresponding stars are revoked from the bot balance.
3. After the stars are revoked, the balance can be less than zero.

Pavel Durov announced that the number of Telegram Premium users has reached 15 million.

Every 8 months, 5 million more users subscribe: in January 2024, Telegram Premium had 5 million subscribers, and in September, it was 10 million.

Telegram Improves Gift Sending System

In the source code of Telegram Beta version, strings have been discovered indicating several new features being developed by the messenger's team:

• Improvements for organizing gifts
Users now have access to a system for organizing gifts into collections, with the ability to add and manage them. There are also mentions of limits on sending certain gifts.

• Premium gifts
Some gifts will be available exclusively to Telegram Premium subscribers.

• Limit on gifts per user
The source code contains mentions of restrictions on the number of gifts that can be sent to a single user. Different gifts will have individual limits.

• Profile level
References to a "profile level" have been found in the code, which depends on the number of stars spent.

• Age verification
According to the discovered strings, this is a requirement of UK legislation, and Telegram emphasizes that photos used for age verification will not be stored on their servers.

• Flexible subscription options
A string has been found indicating the introduction of Premium subscriptions different from the standard monthly and annual plans, such as a 2-year option.

There were also removed strings related to local translation models.

It's important to note that currently only mentions of these features have been discovered in Telegram's code, and they haven't been officially announced yet, so the final versions of these functions may undergo some changes.

This bot can be useful for users who have paid for a subscription via @premiumbot but haven’t seen it appear on their accounts.

Premium Subscription Is Now Sufficient for Sending Custom Emojis in Bots

Bot developers have noticed that Telegram has changed the logic regarding premium emojis in bots. Previously, a bot could send custom emojis only if it had an NFT username linked to it. Initially, linking such a username cost 5,000 TON, and later the price was reduced to 1,000 TON.

How it works now:
• If a bot is created on an account with a Telegram Premium subscription, it can send premium emojis in messages.
• If the account owner does not have Premium, the bot cannot use premium emojis.
• The feature is tied specifically to the account owner, not to the bot having an NFT username.

Important details:
• Premium emojis do not work in the bot's inline mode.
• Bots can't leave custom reactions (except in cases mentioned in Bot API documentation).
• Bots without an NFT username can't send custom emoji to channels.
• The Telegram team has not yet commented on the change — this behavior may change.
