On the afternoon of Sunday, March 29, a group of IRGC intelligence agents raided the home of Behzad Yazdani, a Shiraz resident, and his wife’s family, Romina Khazali, for the fourth time over the course of two nights.
The agents searched the residence for approximately four hours, confiscating items including religious books, photographs, and hard drives.
During the raid, Romina Khazali was detained in front of her children after agents presented a judicial warrant. Witnesses report that the arrest was carried out in a highly intimidating manner, involving threats and verbal abuse, before she was taken to an undisclosed location. The distress caused by the operation reportedly triggered multiple anxiety attacks in the couple’s fourteen-year-old son, who has a history of respiratory issues and had to repeatedly use his inhaler.
The couple’s fourteen-year-old daughter was also reportedly taken aside and interrogated by security agents, while the home was subjected to an extensive search. Several relatives present at the scene, as well as visitors who had arrived for Nowruz gatherings, were also questioned, and their mobile phones were confiscated without warrants.
As of the time of this report, no official charges against the couple have been disclosed. However, according to sources, agents referred to her belief in the Baha’i faith during the searches.
