Morteza Arab-Khorasani, a 26-year-old man arrested while working at a welding workshop in Shandiz, Mashhad, has been held for over five months in the quarantine ward of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, without being formally charged or granted bail. According to HARNA, his case remains stalled at Investigation Branch 257 of the Mashhad Revolutionary and Public Prosecutor’s Office. Reports indicate that he has faced pressure to extract confessions and threats of torture.

Sepehr Amirzadeh, a 23-year-old ney-anban musician and instructor originally from Ramhormoz, Khozestan Province, and a resident of Isfahan, was arrested at his home in Isfahan on January 13, 2026, in connection with the nationwide protests. According to HARNA, he has been charged with “waging war against God” (Moharebeh) by the Revolutionary Court, which sentenced him to death at the trial court level. His case is now before Iran’s Supreme Court, with a serious risk of imminent execution at Dastgerd prison in Isfahan, where he is being held.

Both cases unfold amid a surge in executions related to the January 2026 protests across Iran, alongside an ongoing, systematic failure to uphold even minimal due process standards.
