Bahar Sahraeian, a lawyer and member of the Fars Province Bar Association, nearly three weeks after her arrest, with judicial and security authorities yet to provide clear information regarding her situation. Reports indicate that she was arrested while carrying out her professional duties and attending a hearing at the Revolutionary Court in Shiraz.

According to published reports, Sahraeian was arrested by security forces on May 16 while representing her clients and following up on their legal cases. She was subsequently taken to the prosecutor’s office, where she faced charges including assembly and collusion against national security, disseminating propaganda against the Islamic Republic, and spreading false information. She was later transferred to the women’s ward of Adelabad Prison in Shiraz.

The Fars Province Bar Association and a number of legal professionals have expressed concern over the circumstances of her arrest. They argue that detaining a lawyer while performing her professional duties undermines the independence of the legal profession and threatens the right of individuals to effective legal representation.

Sahraeian has previously faced arrest and judicial prosecution in connection with her work on political, civil, and human rights cases.

Her arrest comes amid a broader crackdown on lawyers in Shiraz. In recent weeks, several other attorneys, including Astareh Ansari and Elham Zeraatpisheh, have also been detained by security forces. Human rights advocates view these arrests as part of a growing pattern of pressure targeting lawyers who represent protesters and individuals facing politically motivated charges.

The continued detention of these lawyers without trial, coupled with the lack of transparent information about their cases, has heightened concerns over increasing restrictions on independent lawyers and human rights defenders in Iran.
