The Committee for Tracking the Situation of Detainees has reported that Diana Taherabadi, a 16-year-old student arrested on January 25, 2026, remains in detention more than four months after her arrest. According to the report, security forces detained her at her family home and she has since been held at Kachouii Juvenile Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

Sources close to her family say that she was forced to confess under torture. Despite this, Diana Taherabadi has rejected the allegations against her in court.

The report also states that judicial authorities have decided to transfer her case to Tehran for further proceedings. According to the information published, the decision was made because of the serious nature of the charges filed against the teenager.

Earlier reports had indicated that she would be referred to the Legal Medicine Organization for psychological evaluations and further assessment of her mental health condition. Despite these developments, Diana Taherabadi remains in custody and is only permitted to meet with members of her family.

Her continued detention comes despite earlier statements by the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Education, who said in February 2026 that all students detained in connection with the January protests had been released within the first days following their arrests.
