Farzad Khoshboresh, a 31-year-old resident of Neka, Mazandaran Province, died under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 — one week after being detained at the Ministry of Intelligence detention facility in Sari.
This was his second arrest . Earlier in August, he was detained for posting critical and political content online and later released on bail.
According to Hengaw, citing an informed source, Farzad’s body showed signs of bruising and severe beating. However, the Ministry of Intelligence office in Sari claims that his health deteriorated in custody and that he died after being transferred to a hospital.
Intelligence agents transferred his body to the medical examiner’s office but are refusing to release the results. They also attended his burial, filming and photographing mourners and threatening them not to share any information.
