Niusha Nakhai (25) and Mona Nakhai (37), two sisters residing in Tehran, were apprehended by security forces at their family home at 2:00 a.m. on January 15, 2026. The authorities presented no judicial warrant at the time of arrest and confiscated their mobile phones.

According to reports received by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, the two citizens were transferred to Evin prison after a period of enforced disappearance. Prior to their transfer, they were able to contact their family only twice, assuring them that they would soon be released; however, this has not occurred.

Over the past weeks, the family of Niusha and Mona Nakhai has made repeated inquiries to various authorities, yet they have received no clear information regarding the grounds for detention, potential charges, or any judicial proceedings. The continued detention, lack of communication from responsible authorities, and denial of access to legal counsel have significantly heightened concerns regarding the welfare and legal rights of the two sisters.
