Sadegh Mansouri, an artist and calligraphy teacher in Mashhad who was detained in connection with the seventh memorial ceremony of the late Khosrow Alikordi, was transferred from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad to Imam Reza Hospital following a deterioration in his health. A photo published from the hospital shows him under guard while being treated, with handcuffs and shackles still on.

According to information obtained by the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center, Mansouri was transferred on the evening of Thursday, 18 June 2026, at around 7 p.m. from Vakilabad Prison to Imam Reza Hospital after suffering a worsening of leg swelling caused by severe dehydration and kidney failure, along with a decline in his overall condition. However, he was returned to prison a few hours later, at around 3 a.m., still in handcuffs and shackles.

Mansouri, a well-known calligraphy master in Mashhad, was arrested following his attendance at the seventh-day memorial ceremony for the late human rights lawyer Khosrow Alikordi. During the ceremony, he held a handwritten note featuring a verse by the classical poet Saeb Tabrizi, which read: "The grief of losing loved ones has softened the edge of death."
