Taher Naqavi, an attorney held in Evin Prison, was denied transfer to a hospital on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, despite his deteriorating condition.

According to Dadban, citing an informed source, Naqavi—who has been on hunger strike since October 27 in protest over the denial of medical care—suffered a seizure and severe weakness on Tuesday night, December 2, due to the continued strike and was moved to the prison infirmary. Prison authorities initially decided to transfer him to a hospital. However, on Wednesday morning, when he refused to be taken in handcuffs and prison clothing, officials blocked the transfer.

Naqavi, who suffers from fractures in six vertebrae, a bladder and prostate mass, and bleeding caused by hemorrhoids, began his hunger strike on October 27, 2025, together with political prisoner Vadoud Asadi, protesting the lack of medical attention.

Arrested in February 2024, Naqavi represented several justice-seeking families of those killed in the 2022 protests as well as political defendants. He has been sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “disseminating propaganda against the Islamic Republic” and “assembly and collusion,” with five years to be enforced.
