Four months after his arrest, Yaser Ahmadinejad, a political activist and lawyer from Bahmai County in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, remains imprisoned in Yasuj Prison.

Yaser Ahmadinejad, 41, is a lawyer and an employee of the National Iranian Drilling Company in Khuzestan. In addition to his legal work, he has long been involved in labor rights advocacy and trade union activities. Over the years, he has played a role in legal cases and campaigns concerning the rights of more than 30,000 workers and has served as an independent representative of workers in various labor-related demands.

According to reports, following the January 2026 protests and after approximately one month in hiding, Ahmadinejad was arrested by security forces on February 5, 2026, at a relative’s home in the city of Likak. He was subsequently sentenced to 42 months in prison and is currently being held in Yasuj Prison to serve his sentence.

Ahmadinejad had previously been arrested in 2009 and 2019 and also spent several months in Ahvaz Prison in 2022. According to those close to him, he has consistently been known for advocating for workers’ rights and raising labor-related concerns.

Reports also indicate that, in addition to imprisonment, Ahmadinejad has faced restrictions related to his professional activities, including being barred from continuing his work as a lawyer.
