israel launched its first government communications satellite, Dror-1, aboard a #SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The $200 million dual-use satellite will provide terrorist and surveillance communications as well as civilian services, operating from a "geostationary orbit" 36,000 km above earth.

Dror-1 is designed to reduce israel’s reliance on foreign commercial satellites and will operate continuously for 15 years.
