Professor Nick Maynard is a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Oxford. He founded the Oxford Oesophagogastric Cancer Centre and previously served as President of Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
Since 2010, he has regularly led medical missions to #Gaza to teach and perform surgery, including multiple missions during the current war. A leading humanitarian advocate for Gaza, he has spoken at the UN and with policymakers across the US and EU. In 2025, he received the UK Humanitarian Medal for his work in Gaza.
