🇵🇸 Hamas dissolves its de facto #Gaza government in a move toward transferring authority to a US-backed technocrat committee, Reuters reports.
Hamas announced the dissolution of its Government Emergency Committee, which has overseen Gaza's ministries for over a decade, as part of the Trump-backed post-conflict governance plan.
Despite the dissolution, #Hamas confirmed ministries and their staff will remain operational, and the group will retain control of security and policing in areas it still controls.
The Trump-appointed #BoardOfPeace acknowledged the move but stated its assessment would be guided by "actions, not promises."
The #US-backed National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, led by Ali Shaath, said its 15-member body is ready to assume responsibility once "necessary resources and enabling conditions" are in place.

On January 15, 2026, the Gaza Board of Peace was imposed on the people in Gaza, chaperoned by President Trump, and dressed in the language of reconstruction, trusteeship, and peace. But this scheme is better understood as the latest colonial facelift of the Nakba project. Colonial powers have systematically used economic tools and “development” plans to manage, fragment, and dispossess Palestinians. And in return, Palestinians have always resisted, through boycotts, mass mobilization, political refusal, and armed resistance
