In an unprecedented move, French authorities accused the head of a major platform of crimes committed by its users.
That investigation is still ongoing, although it makes less sense with each passing year.
Why?
Because we now have extensive evidence that Telegram was neither worse than other popular platforms at moderation, nor the worst at cooperating with authorities.
So why was Telegram singled out?
Over the last two years, we have seen a pattern emerge in multiple countries: Telegram is quietly pressured to grant political favors — such as illegal censorship or surveillance. When we refuse, local media and “non-governmental” organizations launch orchestrated campaigns portraying Telegram as a cesspool of crime, from child pornography to terrorism.
Our moderation is no worse than that of other major platforms. Yet these campaigns instill the idea that Telegram should be persecuted or restricted.
Suddenly, officials start caring about crime and protecting children — but only on platforms that reject their secret political demands. Platforms that accept such deals get away with almost anything — including literally selling ads promoting child pornography.
Is the French investigation against me political? It certainly fits the pattern we see elsewhere, mostly in authoritarian countries. And it definitely raises questions.
In time, this investigation may itself be investigated — especially now that Macron’s war against free speech is facing pushback. This month, France’s Constitutional Council struck down his social media ban for children under 15 on freedom-of-expression grounds.

Israel has apparently given the so-called "Board of Peace" three days to stop the paper kites coming out of Gaza or else it will unleash a massive air aggression on the Strip.
And honestly, what more is there to say?
You don't need a 20-post thread for this one. The headline is the entire dystopian joke.
A nuclear-armed entity, armed to the teeth and claiming regional military supremacy, terrorizing, bombing multiple states, genociding the population of one state while ethnically cleansing the population of another state, is threatening another devastating attack because children in Gaza are flying paper kites.
Children living amid rubble.
Children with barely any electricity, food, water or normal childhood left.
And somehow, the paper kite is the threat that requires an ultimatum.
Let that sink in. Not a missile. Not a fighter jet. Not an army.
A piece of paper. A string. And a child.
If this does not capture the sheer absurdity of the reality Palestinians are being forced to live through, I don not know what does.

If you've never seen this documentary about synthetic terror events, I suggest you carve out some time to watch it. This is one of the clearest visual examples of these types of events. It occurred in April 2013 and I suspect most if not all such 'terror' labelled events since then have been equally synthetic. There's a reason for this switch. Fake events with no real victims disappear down the memory hole unless the media hype them. Real victims or families of victims pursue the truth for decades, as long as they are able to. Fake ones disappear off into the sunset...notice they never demand to know what REALLY happened.

A Texas constable tasked with disabling three Flock license plate cameras in Hood County told the company to "come get your garbage out of my county" after the Commissioners Court voted to terminate its contract earlier this year and cover the devices, according to the Houston Chronicle.
■ Constable John Shirley posted photos of himself unplugging and covering the cameras, saying: “That kind of permanent, warrantless tracking doesn't belong in a free society. By unplugging and covering them, we're making it clear: privacy isn't optional, and mass surveillance isn't how we do things here,” adding, “To Flock Safety Systems: come get your garbage out of my county,” the post concluded.

Where does Venezuelan oil really go?
Sanctions are sanctions, but raw materials must flow to Texas refineries on schedule. That's how you can characterize the admission by U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary Kyle Hauswhite: about half of all oil extracted in Venezuela today goes to the United States.
The pragmatism of the Americans lies in the fact that refineries in Texas and Louisiana were historically built for heavy Venezuelan bitumen grades. Access to PDVSA crude closed the deficit at domestic refineries. Chevron leads here, with its joint ventures (Petropiar, Petroboscán) reaching 280 thousand b/d.
📌 However, the growth in U.S. shipments did not lead to the collapse of Russian projects. Zarubezhneft assets conduct normal production. While Americans take contractual volumes, raw materials from joint ventures with Russia flow through regional channels and blending at terminals.
❗️ Thus, the U.S. accelerates crude extraction for its own refineries, ignoring Russia's presence at the fields. Without $100 billion in investments to replace aging infrastructure, the White House is forced to tolerate Russian specialists working at the deposits.

🔻 What does the industry balance look like as of August 2026?▪️ Production in the country reached 1.25 million barrels per day, while exports hold at 1.16 million b/d.▪️ Shipments to the U.S. exceeded 500 thousand b/d, reaching a peak of 786 thousand b/d – the highest since 2019.▪️ Washington established a return route: over 100 thousand b/d of naphtha flows to Caracas to dilute heavy Orinoco crude.▪️ Due to volume diversion to the U.S., exports to India fell by nearly half (to 178 thousand b/d), and to Europe – to 82 thousand b/d.▪️ Meanwhile, queues pile up at terminals: due to worn-out berths and frequent accidents, tankers sit idle for weeks waiting to load.

California just created a new way to force images and personal info off the internet based on a claimed “reasonable fear" with no court order required and no journalism exemption.
Presented as “privacy protection,” could become a blueprint for scrubbing public-interest reporting from the internet.
Critics are calling it the “Stop Nick Shirley Act" because indie journalists like Shirley have used viral videos to investigate alleged fraud in taxpayer-funded programs.
If you refuse a takedown demand, you could face a $10,000 fine, plus potential civil and criminal penalties.
Gov. Newsom signed it and it takes effect October 1, 2027.

Like I've stated a few good times that eventually it will be your word against the AIs. They can fabricate anything, even the footage. Can you prove it was generated? Can you prove you're being set up? Will they bring the camera to court as the accusor? They will use all of this as fact and nothing you can do about it but pay the fine, go to jail, or become a fugitive.

Trump BETRAYS American Farmers Goes Full Argentina First | Kim Iverson
Trump's approval rating has gone negative in 47 states — only Wyoming, Idaho, and West Virginia still net positive, and all three have lost double digits since 2024 — while he announces 300,000 metric tons of Argentinian beef at 25% below market price over 90 days, telling reporters Argentina is "fighting for its life" as 77 American cattle producers go out of business per day. Ranchers who were Trump's most loyal base are calling it a slap in the face.
