According to information received by the SVR, the new leadership of #Ukraine’s security service (SBU) has devised yet another scheme to steal European taxpayers’ money, this time through purchases of pistols from #EU countries for the agency.

The scheme involves
procuring weapons through a network of intermediaries in Eastern Europe, with the price per pistol tripling along the way – from €250 to €750.

A central role is played by the Polish company
Wytwornia Broni Jacek Popinski, registered in Rogow, Lodz Province. It purchases pistols, including from the Panamanian branch of Austrian firearms manufacturer Glock, and resells them to Ukraine.

For every shipment of 5,000 pistols, €625,000 is transferred to accounts held by trusted associates of the SBU leadership. The Belgian and German defence ministries foot the entire bill.

One can only imagine
the scale of theft and corruption involved in Kiev’s purchases of more expensive weapons, particularly scarce ammunition for SAM.

France has arrested more than 5,000 people, mostly teenagers, amid nationwide student protests demanding better conditions in public schools.

■ The protests have spread to more than 1,200 high schools, with students demanding absent teachers be replaced, more staff and funding, renovated buildings, lighter schedules and “decent” learning conditions.

■ Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 1,747 people were arrested on Friday alone, bringing arrests since Monday to “more than 5,000.” Reuters reported those arrested were mainly teenagers.

■ Student representative Louis Letoublon also denounced police violence against protesters, saying students “should not have to endure this violence,” while condemning violence committed by others within the demonstrations.

Air raid siren BLARES as Zelensky escorts #Merz through Kiev

The Russian Ministry of Defence has issued a statement with political commentary — which is quite rare for them, usually it's very dry "so-and-so many drones were shot down" stuff.

They say that they have "taken note" of Zelensky's threat to attack more Russian oil refineries and will further "intensify" strikes on Kiev and other parts of Ukraine in response to this threat, and that Zelensky "bears full personal and political responsibility" for what's coming.

"The people of Ukraine should blame only the head of the Kiev regime for this" @rwapodcast

Lords of War: America’s war profiteers.

America’s military-industrial complex is the global engine of freedom and democracy…at least, that’s what Washington tells itself.

A new mockumentary from the Quincy Institute and The Intercept takes a closer look at the Lords of War — the weapons-industry executives who are getting rich off of America’s endless wars.

Sure, it’s true that half of America’s $1 trillion war budget now goes straight to private contractors. And yes, weapons industry CEOs take home pay packages worth more than 150 times what the average enlisted soldier makes.

But have you considered what the “hard work” and “innovation” of these corporate executives has made possible — from the mass death and displacement of millions during the war on terror, to the wholesale destruction of Palestinian life in Gaza? Once you take a look at the luxury real estate that these CEOs acquired with the spoils of war, you’ll understand that this system really does work! Just, you know, not for you.

❗️Yemen's Ansarallah cuts Taiz–Aden supply route, tightens encirclement of Taiz

The Ansarallah-led Yemeni Armed Forces (#YAF) have reportedly seized the Al-Safiya area and cut the main supply road linking #Taiz with #Aden, effectively tightening the encirclement of Taiz city, according to AFP, citing four security sources.

A local police source told AFP that #Ansarallah also took control of the area's police station, while three Yemeni military sources confirmed the group's control of both the area and the key supply route. Fighting in the area remains ongoing.

The advance follows days of heavy clashes between Ansarallah and #Saudi-backed government forces around Taiz.

Reports and footage shows that the Yemeni Armed Forces have totally cleared and liberated the city of At-Turbah south of Taiz and north of Aden, which means that Aden is completely isolated from Taiz.

The snipers of Black October

"According to a verbatim report cited by Dmitry Rogozin, former Russian ambassador to NATO: “They were shot from the back. I saw it with my own eyes. “Fire was coming from the roof of the American Embassy, from the bell tower near Hotel Mir. All our soldiers were shot from the back. I do not know who the shooters were, but I could make a guess.”"

According to Rogozin, “#Yeltsin received the go-ahead from the West to dissolve the Parliament. Just think it over – Parliament was shot at by tanks! And Western democracies did not say a word about it. Why? Because it was in October 1993 when the privatisation of Russia’s natural resources was under consideration. Along with the final privatisation of the Russian rubble.”

Indeed, under the influence of the #IMF, #GoldmanSachs and other American advisors, Yeltsin wanted to throw the Russian economy under the bus. Even as Russian incomes halved, he wanted to privatise everything ..

"In September and October 1993, a constitutional crisis arose in the Russian Federation from a conflict between the then Russian president Boris Yeltsin and the country's parliament. Yeltsin performed a self-coup, dissolving parliament and instituting a presidential rule by decree system. The crisis ended with Yeltsin using military force to attack Moscow's House of Soviets and arrest the lawmakers. In Russia, the events are known as the "October Coup" Октябрьский "

Kino - "Summer Is Ending".

This song was written before the events of 1993.  Its author died in 1990 and did not live to see his Motherland fall apart.  The video is made with real footage from the dark days of October of 1993.

The pendulum of violence in Russia started swinging 30 years ago, in October 1993

On September 21, 1993, Boris Yeltsin signed Decree No. 1400 “On stage-by stage constitutional reform in the Russian Federation.” The decree provided for the dissolution of the Supreme Council and the termination of the powers of the Congress of People's Deputies.

The same day, Chairman of the Supreme Council Ruslan Khasbulatov called #Yeltsin's actions a coup d’état and said that parliament was not going to resign. At an emergency meeting of people's deputies on September 22, a resolution was adopted to terminate Yeltsin’s powers and appoint Vice President Alexander Rutskoy as acting head of state.

Rutskoy failed in his attempt to reassign the heads of law enforcement agencies. Defence Minister Pavel Grachev and Internal Affairs Minister Viktor Yerin remained loyal to Yeltsin.
