Tara and Kimia Davoodi Sentenced to a Total of 16 Years in Prison
Tara and Kimia Davoodi, two sisters arrested during the January 2026 nationwide protests, have been sentenced to a combined 16 years in prison by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. Presided over by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, the court sentenced Kimia Davoodi to 10 years for "contact with hostile groups" and "collusion against national security," while Tara Davoodi received a 6-year sentence for "collusion" and "propaganda against the state." Both sisters, currently held in the women's ward of Evin Prison, were subjected to physical violence during their initial arrest in January 2026.
