How long should a radio transmission actually be?
Fifteen seconds. Twenty is the absolute ceiling. Count that out loud sometime — it's barely a sentence and a confirmation, and most operators blow past it before they've finished saying hello.
The reason is mechanical. Direction finding needs your carrier present long enough for a station to take a bearing, and it takes several stations doing that at once before their lines cross into a position. A short over gives them one bearing and nothing to cross it with. You're not hiding the transmission — you're making it too brief to be useful.
There's a checklist for what gets extracted from intercepted traffic, and it has a name worth memorising: SELDOM UP. Strength, Equipment, Logistics, Disposition, Organization, Movement, Units, Personalities. None of it has to be said deliberately to be given away.
Some habits hand it over for free. Tuning and testing on air broadcasts your position with no message attached at all. Chatting between operators builds a pattern of life. Using your own name is the easiest entry point there is. Calling when the net has been silent tells them something just changed.
The fix is unglamorous: write the message out before you key, strip everything that isn't needed, then read it once. The pauses and the corrections are where your twenty seconds actually go.
And a correction to how most people rank this. Encryption is the third line of defence, not the first. Before it come not transmitting at all, and transmitting briefly. If they can't read you, they still know you're there — and they can jam you or come find you instead.

Mind uploading and literal indestructibility remain speculative goals. Turning this vision into reality would require extraordinary discoveries—and preserving identity, autonomy, and consciousness throughout the transformation.
We should bring the same ambition to strengthening humanity that we bring to developing AI.

We cannot assume we have unlimited time to prepare for intelligence greater than our own.
My vision is clear: make human advancement a central priority. Invest in biotechnology, neuroscience, and biophysics to develop stronger minds, more resilient bodies, and greater human independence.
By “superhumans,” I mean people with expanded capabilities: better learning and memory, improved tissue repair, greater resistance to disease, and longer healthy lives. These are research ambitions, with different levels of feasibility—not a package science has already delivered.
If we devote enormous resources to expanding machine capabilities, we should bring comparable ambition to advancing humanity.
But stronger bodies alone will not preserve our freedom. We also need the knowledge, institutions, and practical authority to challenge and control the systems we build. Human enhancement must complement AI safety and accountable governance.
No one knows a deadline for losing control, and enhancement cannot guarantee protection. That uncertainty is a reason to prepare thoughtfully.
The future we build should make humans more capable of shaping their own destiny.

Think about this for a moment: Why do humans dominate Earth?
Our intelligence—amplified by shared knowledge, technology, and cooperation—allows us to shape the world around us. We decide where other species can live, which habitats survive, and what resources remain available to them.
Now consider the other side of that relationship.
If something becomes far more intelligent than humanity, with the resources and freedom to act, could the same imbalance of power apply to us?
We cannot assume that the advantage that placed us in control will always belong to us. Creating a superior intelligence would not automatically guarantee our ability to govern it.
And harm would not require hatred. Humans can destroy an animal’s habitat simply by pursuing goals that overlook its existence. A more powerful intelligence could similarly endanger us if human needs did not meaningfully constrain its actions.
This is a warning about a possibility, not a prediction of inevitable catastrophe.
We must strengthen human capabilities and preserve our ability to understand, challenge, and redirect the systems we build.
The intelligence that gave us dominance should also help us recognize how we could lose it.

🛡️ REACTIVATING IMMUNITY AGAINST CANCER
In 87 patients with previously treated metastatic squamous lung cancer, gotistobart produced median survival of 18.5 months versus 10 months with chemotherapy. These encouraging results still need confirmation in the pivotal portion of the trial.
💪 TARGETING MUSCLE LOSS
The FDA approved Isembyld for spinal muscular atrophy in patients aged 2+ receiving SMN2-targeted treatment. It blocks activation of myostatin—a natural brake on muscle growth—and demonstrated improved motor function.

Modern AI began with a powerful question: Can machines learn by using principles inspired by the human brain?
Biological neurons communicate through electrical and chemical signals. Their synaptic connections adapt through experience. Artificial neural networks simplify this idea mathematically: inputs pass through weighted connections, activation functions, and multiple processing layers.
Machine learning then gives these networks the ability to improve:

The journey accelerated through major breakthroughs:

• 1998 — Convolutional neural networks

But AI did not advance by copying the brain exactly. Its progress came from combining brain-inspired ideas with mathematics, enormous datasets, powerful computing hardware, and scalable architectures.
The human brain remains far more biologically complex, adaptive, energy-efficient, and deeply connected to physical experience.
AI is brain-inspired—but it is not a digital replica of the human mind.
