Several prisoners held in Qezel Hesar Prison, who are members of the “No Death Penalty Tuesdays” campaign, have issued a letter warning that the life of Ehsan Faridi — a 22-year-old industrial engineering student and political prisoner sentenced to death — is in serious danger.

According to the letter, a copy of which was obtained by Iran International on Sunday, 23 November 2025, Mr. Faridi is described as yet another victim of the Islamic Republic’s intensified brutality following the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.

The signatories say that Faridi’s arrest was unlawful, his trial fundamentally unfair, and his appeal hearing merely a formality. They warn that his life is at grave risk and call the situation a stark warning for all human rights activists.

Ehsan Faridi was first arrested on March 8, 2024 and later released on bail. He was arrested again on June 18, 2024 after he went to the prosecutor’s office. In February 2025, Branch Three of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death. His request for a retrial was rejected by the Supreme Court within a few hours, and the sentence was upheld in full.
