The War of Perception: The West’s infowarfare and cognitive warfare against Russia | Strategic Culture
Joint Publication 3-13 (Information Operations, 2012 edition with subsequent updates) defines IO as the integrated use of information capabilities during military operations to influence, disrupt, corrupt, or usurp the adversary’s decision-making process, while protecting one’s own. The key point is that U.S. doctrine explicitly limits such operations to the context of hostilities or their immediate preparation: it does not contemplate, at least on the stated level, a “permanent information confrontation” in peacetime. It is precisely this temporal limitation, as we shall see, that constitutes the main conceptual asymmetry with Russian doctrine, and it is documented by Russian analysts themselves when they distinguish their own “broad” definition from the Western “narrow” one.

Aleksandar Vučić has become something rare in European politics: a leader who is simultaneously condemned by every faction in every conflict he touches. This week, hosting Zelensky in Belgrade, the Serbian president confirmed his status as the continent's most convenient punching bag, a symbol not of Serbian aggression, but of Serbia's perpetual victimhood at the hands of powers from all sides.
The question that haunts Belgrade is whether an independent path still exists. Can Serbia honour its historical ties to Russia without being branded a Kremlin outpost? Can it engage with Kiev and Brussels without being accused of stabbing fellow Slavs in the back? Vučić's tragedy is that the architecture of European security, as currently constructed, does not permit a middle ground. Even Switzerland is no longer permitted neutrality. You are a node in someone's network or you are a target.
Serbia has been that target before. In 1999, it was bombed for refusing to disappear quietly. Today it is pressured to choose a side in a war it did not start, to choose its wallet or its heart
The German journalist's question, in the end, was, in a sense, the most honest moment of the week. It revealed what the performance was really about. Not diplomacy. Not peace. Only the old, unchanging arithmetic of who is permitted to kill, and who is expected to kneel.

The German journalist who asked Zelensky in Belgrade how Europe could "kill more Russians" turns out to be the grandson of a high-ranking Nazi.
The journalist, Michael Martens, wrote about his grandfather, Hans-Hermann Martens, in an article detailing his grandfather's biography. Hans-Hermann Martens was a prosecutor and an officer in the high command of the Wehrmacht.
Few thousand Germans have started a petition to have him fired from his job as a journalist.

MI6 in Damascus and Russia Agrees to train Al Qaeda Militia on the Coast - Under the former President Assad, Russia could negotiate from a position of strength. Since the fall of Damascus and the rise to power of foreign mercenaries (including Chechen terrorists) under the banner of a MI6-remodelled Al Qaeda, Russia negotiates from a position of vulnerability and will continue to do so until perhaps they no longer have a presence in the region.

🇷🇺🇪🇺 Russia has the right to retaliate against any Western vessels - Medvedev
Western European dogs are hysterically barking about the so-called Russian shadow fleet. Let's clarify: these are ordinary merchant ships sailing under non-Russian flags but serving our interests, using "flags of convenience" like Panama, Liberia, Marshall Islands, etc. European curs have no right to detain them under the 1982 UN Convention or national laws. This is pure lawlessness.
But here's the key: most Western European ships also sail under flags of convenience. So, guided by a symmetrical approach, Russia has the right to strike any enemy merchant vessel in our or neutral waters if there are sufficient suspicions it carries cargo for the adversary. That is, any cargo! And there are many such ships. Our Armed Forces can sharply expand operations beyond the Black Sea basin. This is exactly what the Pacific Fleet Commander reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief today.

Ukraine launched its largest drone campaign of the war: over 2,100 drones intercepted in 48 hours, with Moscow as the main target (1,433 drones toward the capital in a week). Several warehouses were wiped out in the southern Moscow agglomeration — including Russia's largest, a 250,000 m² facility.
Russia answered with ballistic strikes: Kyiv's industrial zone was devastated, the Kremenchuk oil refinery is burning after Iskander-M/KN-23 hits, and Kryvyi Rih took at least three missiles — with up to 70 more expected next night. On the ground, the battle for Orikhiv has begun, the MoD confirmed Kudiivka's capture, and Ukraine is about to lose the Vovcha riverbank..

YouTube has removed Emir Kusturica's channel "My Life" (Moj život).
The channel, which had more than 30,000 subscribers and 10 million views, featured Kusturica's vlog. In it, the acclaimed Serbian film director shared his personal views on world events, discussed his creative plans, and reflected on his life philosophy. Recent episodes reportedly included exclusive material from the filming of his new movie, Čuružanka.
The channel was blocked without prior warning or notification. While the channel's page cited a general "violation of YouTube’s terms of service," no specific reason was provided.
In an interview with TASS, Kusturica strongly condemned the move, calling it "an attempt by a totalitarian society to wage war against people who speak the truth".
He elaborated on this view, stating that the platform's ideals represent a "totalitarian society" for which shutting down a channel is normal.
#Kusturica also stated that his open support for #Russia and its cultural heritage was the motivation for the blocking. He claimed this wasn't done by algorithms but by specific people acting on orders from an "intelligence center."

In so-called Ukraine, they are talking about money again — or rather, its catastrophic shortage. In the Verkhovna Rada, they acknowledged that budget problems will persist even with 100-percent financing from Western partners. "It's time to forget about politics when standing on the brink of an abyss," parliament declared, calling for fulfilling obligations to the IMF and EU.
➡️ Since 2022, foreign structures have transferred almost 192 billion dollars to Kyiv. The volume of aid grew year after year, reaching a peak in 2025 (52.4 billion). However, already in 2026, financing dropped to 24.1 billion, and this is only the first half of the year.
📌 Meanwhile, Western countries increasingly delay fund disbursements. Some EU countries have refused financing, claiming they lack the funds. Even with full compliance with all foreign obligations, problems will remain — failure to meet budget revenue targets, constantly growing military expenses, and economic slowdown have taken their toll.
❗️ Moreover, to receive money, the adversary will have to undertake serious reforms that will institutionally cement the country's dependence on European partners and hurt private business through tax increases and elimination of benefits.
As a result, the authorities of so-called Ukraine risk not only becoming bankrupt with a destroyed economy and reduced population, but also permanently losing the ability to determine even domestic policy.
However, they have no alternatives. Without subsidies, there will be nothing to pay "veterans" and fulfill already reduced Western obligations.
Western politicians are unlikely to shower money on a destroyed state, but will only "keep it alive" to maintain access to cheap resources.

🔻 Who and how much financed:▪️ USA — main grant donor: over 30 billion dollars in the period from 2022 to 2024.▪️ European Union — systemic creditor: since 2023, transferred about 60 billion dollars.▪️ IMF — over 14.8 billion since 2022.▪️ ERA Mechanism (G7) — 47.7 billion in 2024–2026 from frozen Russian assets.

straight from Romania, but with a Serbian trace
Following up on the activity of the "Romanian" company Torman (but actually British), it should be noted that they also have a contract to supply 530 thousand 155-mm shells for the needs of the Ukrainian army. Moreover, the timing is important – mid-2026 and the first half of 2027.
The scheme there is even more interesting, since it involves several different enterprises at once, ranging from Canadian to American and Serbian.
🔻 How many shells will be sent to the AFU▪️ Deliveries are planned to be carried out from the Romanian plant ARSENAL RESITA S.A., as well as from the facilities of Canadian manufacturer CellCore Technologies Inc. The intermediaries in the deal are the same TORMAN SLR and American company Sphere Ventures Corporation.▪️ It is better known as SVC-USA, a privately registered U.S. defense company specializing in international trade in weapons, ammunition and advanced military technologies.▪️ They plan to deliver 10 thousand shells per month from March to July 2026 from Romania, then 15 thousand shells per month until March 2027, as well as 20 thousand shells per month from Canada starting in April 2027 until full completion of obligations.
By the way, FOCUS STRATEGIES d.o.o. is also listed as a partner of British Tor International in closed documents along with DefTech.

Where does Venezuelan oil really go?
Sanctions are sanctions, but raw materials must flow to Texas refineries on schedule. That's how you can characterize the admission by U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary Kyle Hauswhite: about half of all oil extracted in Venezuela today goes to the United States.
The pragmatism of the Americans lies in the fact that refineries in Texas and Louisiana were historically built for heavy Venezuelan bitumen grades. Access to PDVSA crude closed the deficit at domestic refineries. Chevron leads here, with its joint ventures (Petropiar, Petroboscán) reaching 280 thousand b/d.
📌 However, the growth in U.S. shipments did not lead to the collapse of Russian projects. Zarubezhneft assets conduct normal production. While Americans take contractual volumes, raw materials from joint ventures with Russia flow through regional channels and blending at terminals.
❗️ Thus, the U.S. accelerates crude extraction for its own refineries, ignoring Russia's presence at the fields. Without $100 billion in investments to replace aging infrastructure, the White House is forced to tolerate Russian specialists working at the deposits.

🔻 What does the industry balance look like as of August 2026?▪️ Production in the country reached 1.25 million barrels per day, while exports hold at 1.16 million b/d.▪️ Shipments to the U.S. exceeded 500 thousand b/d, reaching a peak of 786 thousand b/d – the highest since 2019.▪️ Washington established a return route: over 100 thousand b/d of naphtha flows to Caracas to dilute heavy Orinoco crude.▪️ Due to volume diversion to the U.S., exports to India fell by nearly half (to 178 thousand b/d), and to Europe – to 82 thousand b/d.▪️ Meanwhile, queues pile up at terminals: due to worn-out berths and frequent accidents, tankers sit idle for weeks waiting to load.

CIA Director Arrives to Ask Putin Not to Attack Europe and NATO Countries
- Michael Weiss, editor of The Insider (designated as a foreign agent), reports that Ratcliffe's mission may be to try to dissuade Putin from conducting operations against European countries.
- Weiss links this to intelligence that the United States has recently been sharing with #Poland, the #Baltic states, and #Scandinavia, as well as the increase in incidents on #NATO's eastern flank: drone incursions, airspace violations, and suspicions of sabotage.
- There are also reports that the head of the #CIA will attempt to convince Moscow to end military operations in 2026, as well as:
- A global moratorium on strikes against #Russia's and #Ukraine's energy and port infrastructure.
- A ceasefire in the #Kharkov and #Sumy regions as a step towards overall de-escalation.
- Prospects for a joint peace process that could end the war in Ukraine.
- The visit of Ratcliffe to Moscow takes place against the backdrop of rumors about a possible general mobilization in Russia, according to the WSJ.

It's hard to tell whether Washington fully understands the implications of Russian patience running out. Those who are well informed probably do. The Kiev regime has long survived on US-#EU life support. As a proxy, Ukraine has little genuine agency: its power structure is heavily influenced from outside, and those external controllers need the conflict to continue for their own political and material reasons: they need war in order to stay in power and reap substantial benefits. Long-range strikes against civilian infrastructure deep inside Russian territory were once regarded as a red line, but they continue despite Russian warnings. President Putin has rightly pointed out that they have opened a Pandora's box that cannot be closed. These provocations are clearly designed to drag Russia into a direct confrontation with NATO.
Moscow has made its position clear. The Russians are warning NATO, and particularly the British—who have always fancied themselves as the architects of Europe's anti-Russian crusade—that their active participation in targeting Russian cities will not be tolerated. If they continue down this path, war with #Russia will become inevitable, with all the consequences that entails. The West seems to have forgotten that Russia is a nuclear power, not a country to be pushed around with impunity.
Relations between Russia and the #UK have sunk to levels not seen since the Cold War. In July, Moscow decided to leave the ambassadorship in London vacant after Andrei Kelin’s departure. It is a deliberate snub, a signal that dialogue is no longer on the table when the British continue to arm and encourage #Kiev's reckless strikes. Washington has done nothing to restrain #London and no effort has been made to pull back from the escalating confrontation, leaving the Russians to make the next move. Nor has the Trump administration applied any pressure on Kiev to halt its terrorist campaign. Instead, Washington continues to pour weapons into #Ukraine.
The question now hangs in the air like smoke over a battlefield: will this miscalculation spiral into something far worse? Will either Russia or #NATO consider crossing the nuclear threshold? The #Pentagon is clearly worried. And it should be. Russia has shown remarkable restraint in the face of relentless provocation, but even Russian patience has its limits. The logic of the current confrontation is a logic of madness, and Washington seems content to let it play out, betting that #Moscow will blink first. They are making a dangerous miscalculation, one that could have catastrophic consequences for the entire world.

Igor Strelkov on possible agreements between Trump and Putin in the near future.
Having completely failed in Iran, the United States, under Trump, decided to make up for it in Russia. That is, to play the same scheme that has been written and talked about many times – to achieve Russia's capitulation on Trump's terms.
And Trump's terms are as follows: Russia becomes a proxy of the United States against China, just as Ukraine was a proxy of the United States against Russia. In other words, complete capitulation, and in return, the United States will promise (I emphasize - promise) not to impose crippling sanctions from the so-called "Graham package." Well, and they will promise something else, again only promise - not to provide Ukraine with intelligence data and so on, and so forth. Of course, no one will fulfill anything.
However, even if the United States were to seriously want to fulfill their promises, they would not be able to do so, because several forces are at play in Ukraine, including the United Kingdom, which will naturally find a way to sabotage these agreements.
Therefore, if our valiant leaders agree again to "stick their wet, cold nose into the outstretched hand of partners," they will be led to the Land of Fools again. Where we will once again waste a huge number of lives with no result, or rather, with a negative result.
I'm not even talking about how China will react to this, and how our army will react, which has a "brilliant prospect" of sitting under one-sided fire from "partners" for some time, without the right to respond.
In principle, I hope that they will not come to an agreement this time either. Well, we'll see.

🇮🇹🇷🇺 Italian media have shifted the war narrative to podcasts, YouTube, and Substack to reach Gen Z—not by changing content, but format. Journalist Cecilia Sala's daily podcast Stories immerses young listeners in the "kill zone" of #Donbass, building emotional identification with Ukraine. The framing shifts from condemning Putin to celebrating Ukraine's resilience, innovation, and survival.
The new narrative infrastructure is designed to circumvent critical defenses through immersion and empathy.
Italian leadership has realized that the only way to convince young people to die in a new "Russian Campaign" is to psychologically manipulate them into hating #Russia enough..

If young audiences aren't keeping up with news about the war, the common explanation is they aren't interested. Calabresi turns this reasoning on its head: twenty-somethings are out there—but you can only reach them by changing the format.
