▪️China understands this fully and is pursuing full-spectrum self-sufficiency in terms of manufacturing, technological development, and energy - and is buying the time to do so no matter how it looks politically;

▪️This is the lens upcoming meetings must be seen through;

▪️Possible Chinese agreements to buy US LNG is not done to reward the US for its war on Iran and its deliberate disruption of energy flow from the Middle East - even though that is precisely why the US launched this war - but instead to pragmatically buy the time necessary to close the 5 year window toward energy independence;

▪️China likely could weather energy disruptions throughout this period - but if it can even temporarily buy time and space to do so without significant disruptions - it will;

▪️China is likely to make other trade concessions - short of accepting any measure that would significantly/permanently undermine its overall objective of self-sufficiency and sovereignty;

▪️And you'll know no "grand bargain" was arrived at by the fact the US military continues to build up all across the Asia-Pacific while waging proxy wars and outright wars of aggression against all of China's closest allies worldwide;

▪️Like in a chess game where important pieces are sacrificed - people are going to have to be patient and look at the long-game and ultimate goal of each player to see what is really happening and why and avoid the knee-jerk conclusions of "subordination" or "grand bargain" many will be tempted to draw;
