Almost like there’s a coordinated technocratic rollout hitting every corner of the country at the exact same moment... Like someone flipped a switch and the whole system snapped into formation.

The US government is encouraging American companies to launch their own cyberattacks. Under a national security memorandum that Donald Trump signed on Wednesday, select companies would work with the Justice and Homeland Security Departments to strike "foreign groups" with hacks. The attacks would allow both surveillance and hacking operations that could lead to disruption, manipulation or destruction of information systems and networks, including virtual and physical infrastructure. The US move is an attempt, under the guise of combating cybercrime, to accelerate its plan to issue "cyber privateering licenses" to private entities and turn AI-enhanced cyberattack capabilities into tools for securing strategic interests and undermining the security of other nations, Xiao Xinguang, chief software architect from Chinese cybersecurity company Antiy, told the Global Times https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202608/1368219.shtml Although this has been an established practice for years, now the US is openly authorizing non-state actors to carry out intrusions, data theft, sabotage and other disruptive cyberattacks against countries around the world. Washington’s entanglement with a small group of U.S. AI giants has become a structural trap that operates at three mutually reinforcing levels: policy, finance, and narrative. At the financial level, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, and Washington have formed a dangerous closed‑loop of reciprocal investments, weaving a highly concentrated and interconnected web of debt. The AI boom rests on a circular model: tech giants pour equity investments or cloud credits into AI startups, which in turn spend that money on cloud computing and GPU capacity from those very same giants. This inflates reported revenues and valuations, yet produces little corresponding real‑world productivity. Together, they sustain an ever‑expanding bubble, even as the underlying fundamentals grow dangerously out of sync with sky‑high valuations. To support the interests of these companies (all donors to Trump's campaign) juicy contracts with State Department, Pentagon and CIA are no longer deemed sufficient. According to a draft internal U.S. State Department letter, Washington is pressuring dozens of countries to choose sides in the U.S.-China AI race, threatening to exclude any nation that participates in Chinese AI frameworks from American-led AI alliances. This "either-or" demand, directed at the 35 signatories of the Pax Silica framework, has been criticized by Chinese scholar Li Yong as a typical zero-sum geopolitical maneuver that exposes U.S. anxiety over China's rapid breakthroughs in open‑source AI. https://www.globaltimes.cn/page/202608/1368309.shtml Analysts suggest that Washington is trying to curb China's AI progress by politicizing technological cooperation and weaponizing supply‑chain rules, but such an attempt to force a rigid bipolar divide runs counter to the shared interests of most countries.

Take Alibaba's new Qwen 3.8 Max model. It now ranks fourth in overall performance, ahead of OpenAI's top-ranked model, while OpenAI charges 250 percent more for input tokens and 500 percent more for output tokens—leading more users, including U.S. companies like Coinbase and Airbnb, to switch to Chinese AI. At the same time, U.S. productivity growth came in at just 1.4 percent for the second quarter, marking the third consecutive quarter of weak growth—far from the 4‑5 percent surge that would signal a genuine AI payoff.
On the narrative level, Washington and its Silicon Valley appendages tend to amplify the “China threat” because it serves to sustain the American AI bubble. While economic returns fail to materialize, China becomes the ideal bogeyman to keep Washington’s clients and vassals inside the enclosure of American AI and continue feeding the financial bubble.

🇺🇸🇷🇺 On US ("Ukrainian") Strikes on Russia's  Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara

▪️The facility is responsible for manufacturing the Soyuz launch system which not only is launching Russia's Rasvett satellite constellation (Russia's "Starlink/Starsheild" alternative), but also Soyuz supply and crew missions to the International Space Station upon which US astronauts also depend;

▪️Soyuz rockets are built months/years in advance of scheduled missions, so disruptions might not be immediate, and that is only if the strikes actually significantly damaged the facilities involved in Soyuz production, including facilities producing crticial electronic components;

▪️Again, these are US strikes simply laundered through "Ukraine," depending entirely on US ISR for target and up to date Russian air defense posture and positions;

▪️Through such strikes, the US succeeds in degrading Russian capabilities, while Ukraine takes the full brunt of Russian retaliation = proxy war;

If Russia is determined to avoid wider war with the US or its European proxies - eliminating any real deterrence against such attacks, it must at least ensure it eliminates any single point of failure for critical economic, industrial and military capabilities - hardening and dispersing critical processes, assuming ALL of them will eventually be targeted.

Hopefully China and other potential targets of US war and proxy war are taking notes...

"UN representatives arrived at homes in the village of Qusra, south of Nablus, that had been blocked by settlers over the past week, bringing residents food and water,"

"#UN representatives brought a #water tanker with them, but security forces did not allow it to remain at the site, which remains a closed military zone." Activists have attempted to aid the besieged Palestinians repeatedly in over the past few days...

The protest began in the early hours of Friday, August 14, as activists, trade unionists and supporters of the Palestinian community assembled near Gate E12 of #Greece’s largest port.

Iran Prepares To Escalate With Ground Assaults As U.S. Mulls Nuclear Strike

Iran spent the two months since signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the United States to prepare for ramped-up fighting rather than diplomacy, The Wall Street Journal reported on August 17.

According to the report, which cites Iranian and Arab officials, the Islamic Republic believed the U.S. was also only buying time for a future attack. Therefore, over the past 60 days Iran reportedly ramped up production of missiles and drones and tapped hardline figures for key positions. The 60-day period inked in the MOU expires today.

In the days leading to the end of the 60-day period, the U.S. has also signaled its intention to escalate against the Islamic Republic.

The most worrying sign came, however, from former U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who claimed on August 17 that high-level strategy meetings are underway to discuss the potential use of nuclear weapons against Iran.

I have been observing the night sky lately. With my impulsive need to photograph nature, my camera has not been successful in capturing the immensity, the grandeur of the blanket of darkness that lies above.

But it is not a bad kind of darkness; it is a good darkness that is being lost. How few living souls today, bear witness to something that would be considered commonplace in ancient times: to that of a shooting star?

Upon staring into the vast darkness, i find myself lost in both space and time, completely mesmerized by its almost dangerously captivating beauty. The sight of a shooting star feels almost miraculous. Yet to those who came before us, to those who breathed cleaner air, to those who walked unpaved and unscarred ground, the heavens must have been alive with them. The Milky Way would have stretched actoss the sky in its full splendour, unwashed by the glow of metropolis, while countless stars filled the the darkness from horizon to horizon, far more densely than they do now. What we now regard as extraordinary was once simply the world as it was.

This is not just about the sky, but about the world in which we live in. Our world is victim to the concept of progress, a myth about how the world before was simply not enough, that it needed improvement, modification, engineering. But Nature had already shaped a perfectly balanced existence. It was a spontaneous creation that existed long before human intervention. From that we learn, nature, if let wild, is stability. It needs NO architect.

Iceland’s EU Referendum and the Battle for the Arctic Gate | 21st Century Wire

On 29 August, Icelanders will decide whether their country should reopen negotiations to join the European Union. A Yes would reopen accession talks suspended in 2013; any resulting treaty would face a second referendum, according to the Government of Iceland’s referendum guidance

Recent polling reported by
Politico has left the two camps finely balanced, even as opposition to membership itself remains clearer. That distance between the ballot and the destination is central to the Yes campaign, yet accession talks exert their own political gravity.
