All US presidents, at least since Reagan, have been photographed receiving delegations from Chabad. Joe Biden also has a Chabad rabbi, as does Kamala Harris's husband, Doug Emhoff.
The most famous figure in the movement in recent decades was Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, whom some followers considered a messiah, a claim rejected by other Hasidic sects, such as Satmar, which originated in Northern Romania during the time when the city was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. (It is unnecessary to explain why the designation of a false messiah is unacceptable to Christians.) Benjamin Netanyahu was filmed receiving a blessing from MMS, who rebuked him for not doing enough to hasten the arrival of the messiah. Last year, Donald Trump and Javier Milei paid their respects at the tomb of the same "Rebbe" MMS.
