Title : The year of 2020
On the brink of the decade, the year’s conference was called;
With the democratic elections, a king was installed!
To decide the destiny of upcoming years;
With the experiences of previous ones, considered as pioneers!
Everyone had on the face some agony and fear;
Complaints against humans in the eyes with tears!
In the grief of Nirbhaya, 2012 still sobbed;
Because of terrorism and merciless killings, the peace was robbed!
Every year was the environment brutally raped;
Still, the perpetrators of mother earth always escaped!
The anguish of starving children, the king couldn’t tolerate;
So they wrote the misery of 2020 in our fate!
Coming as a new year’s gift, a virus shook the world;
The nature was free to breathe as humanity had its arms curled!
Even the mightiest ones could not defend;
When forests burned, kids of nature also faced a bitter end!
With protests everywhere, the sad year started;
Everyone felt the loss when our favourite celebrities departed.
The two nuclear powers fought, the third was the casualty;
With earthquakes and cyclones, the year reached its peak of brutality.
It destroyed many homes with many lives lost;
Witnessing the biggest migration, humans paid an enormous cost.
A nation still burned in the wave of civil war;
And with 6 months left, more problems will come for sure!
We all are responsible for this, we all played some part;
But if we consider it a lesson, better change in the world will start!
Improving our habits and taking nothing as granted;
Will improve everything and that’s what every situation demanded!
Thinking positively, a lot of opportunities also came;
And if we work on them, there’ll be nothing to blame.

Title : SLEEPLESS
Lying on the bed, when everyone sleeps;
Random thoughts rise and creativity peeps!
Imagining the normal as well as weirdest things;
And flying freely with those wings!
From thinking about how I wasted another day;
To fearing exams which are on the way.
After today, what does she think of me?
Facing me she smiled, that everyone could see!
Also today she laughed, on that stupid joke;
The lame comedian inside me was such stoked!
Her thoughts are so beautiful, everything my mind believes;
On her fabric with dreams, every day this fool weaves!
What will happen if terrorists attacked?
Everyone's captivated and college hijacked!
That time will require someone to sacrifice;
So I'll be the saviour, ready to save the lives.
Thinkin' of gallantry awards and tears on my grave;
Influenced by movies, these thoughts are too naive.
What if, I get a chance to be a superhero?
The powers I'll get, the changes I'll undergo!
To fight like batman, to swirl like the thor;
To control like the strange, can't ask for more.
And one day 'Vilgax' invades, asks strongest to fight;
I'll the saviour again, bringing back the planet to light!
Drifting between universes, when I reached back to reality;
The sun was about to rise, now sleep became just a formality!
Another day gave the sacrifice, whole day the eyes slept;
Saviour was the casualty, the remorseful superhero wept!
"Today I will sleep early", on the mirror I screamed;
Still once again lying on the bed, insolent eyes began to dream.

When I opened my eyes, he wasn't there;
I panicked and I searched everywhere.
From destroyed buildings to cemeteries, he was no where to be found!
He knew how sad I become if he is not around.
A year ago those bad uncles attacked, so much blood was spilled;
Lots of families vanished, my parents too were killed.
The school where I used to go, the park where I used to play;
They where bombed overnight, reduced to debris in a day!
Snatching my childhood, they say they prevented a war,
Very proudly they took everything which I used to adore.
Was crying on remains of dreams, when I first saw him;
Standing beside carcass of his mother, his condition was also grim.
The two sad souls met, the two sad souls became friends;
Whole day searching for food, we started meeting our ends.
Life was again happy as if all the gloom disappeared;
In the noise of rifles, because of this love the atmosphere was cheered!
But that day without him, sadness once again reached it's peak;
Why did he leave me? Was our friendship so weak?
Running from dawn to dusk, I found him near the lake;
I hugged and kissed him, promised will never do such mistake.
A lady with the camera asked us to capture this moment;
Next day newspapers captioned- " Happiness in the torment".
She won the Pulitzer though our condition remained the same;
Maybe a dog and a child couldn't question-"who was the one to be blamed?"

Title- Shaded minds
Searching in the storeroom, I found something special:
Those were my kindergarten books, lying inside a big vessel.
Smiled on my handwriting before I found something shocking;
Labelling lighter skin colour as beautiful, 'darker skin they were mocking!
Turning a few pages, there was the story of snow-white;
Her fairness was her beauty because dark-hued don't get prince, right?
Meanwhile, some of my neighbouring ' aunties' arrived;
Someone was again demeaned, by those gossips deprived.
"She is so dusky that's why can't get a suitable groom,
She has no choice left", all of those ladies presumed.
"Hefty dowry has to be paid", one of the greatest exclaimed;
In one more chat session, someone's skin colour was shamed.
Getting away from this to Facebook, I fled;
The meme was of a wedding, "profits of govt job" the caption said.
Laughing on that, I went into the memory;
Old school pics I found with stupid captions which were mandatory.
Everyone's nickname it reminded with one who was called 'crow' ;
It was embarrassing now, what was funny some years ago!
Frustrated with everything, to the TV I resorted;
Fairness cream ad displayed showin' tanned man's career distorted.
Music even felt so mean when 'chittiyan kalayiyaan' song played;
Daily soaps were no less, obsession with fair skin they displayed.
When the news channels flashed- "Due to racism, one more black man died" ;
Even the irony smirked when 'fair&lovely' actors too criticized.
We all are responsible, we all played some part;
Change has to be within us, for change in the world to start.
No one is born racist, it's all that we are taught;
Our generation has to do something, for this thing to be stopped.
Equality is the biggest myth, it always will be;
But something if we do, the world will be better than what we see.

Dear rain,
You have given us beautiful memories,
From playing football in park,
To school’s rainy day stories.
From dancing freely with girl,
To crying after breakup with arms curled!
From drinking tea at those stalls,
To moments with friends which we recall.
Always be such beautiful my queen!!

Title: A lesson from the history
I try to sleep but there is a creaky voice. As the cool breeze brushes my face, I realise something spooky. Turning around in the direction of ghastly noise, I find blood trails on the floor. It seems that the noise is coming from outside. As I open my door, there is a portal to which the trail is leading.
Entering the portal, there I see a battlefield. I find myself dressed in an armour like others over there. They all are tall, muscular humans with some problem on their faces indulged in a conversation. It's about some Chakravyuh which some Guru Drona has created in order to massacre their army. I don't know how but I know about entering the Chakravyuh. I ask them -"If everyone here agrees, shall I enter?". A warrior with calmness on his face says - "Abhimanyu! You are our future so we can't allow you to go there." But I insist that if I don't enter, the battle will end today only and the purpose of this war will go in vain. Upon repeatedly pleading, they agree but with the condition that they'll come too along with me. I can't understand the language still I'm talking to them.
With my army and my elder warriors, I enter the Chakravyuh breaking first few levels easily like it was always at the back of my head! But level by level all of them disappear leading to level 7 where I'm all alone and what I see is there are 6 fierce warriors with blood on their faces as if they were waiting to eat me. I challenge all of them for battle knowing that I'll die. Both the sides fire arrows towards each other but mine are faster causing them injuries until one of their arrows comes and destroys my chariot. I'm now on the ground still I feel confident in fighting them but in order to stop me those cruel humans destroy my bow. I have no weapon now still they are throwing arrows at me which are piercing my body but I'm astonished that I don't feel any pain.
Finding me injured and unable to fight, they too come on the ground with their swords and daggers. I pick wheel of my broken chariot to fight them but one of them stabs me in the back. The wheel falls on the ground giving all of them an opportunity to stab me together. I feel many swords are piercing my body still there is no pain. Tears are coming out of my eyes still I'm not crying. I am able to see a man with flute in front of my eyes whom I can easily recognise as krishna. Also, a warrior is at the back of his chariot, seeing whom I feel a sense of pride and honour. There is also a pregnant lady whom I feel is my wife. I'm being stabbed continuously but I'm not dying. I try to fight them with whatever I get.
The sun is about to set and now I want to die but I'm not able to until warrior with the glow of sun on his face comes and hugs me. He is having tears coming out of his eyes and I feel he's saying that he's proud of me from his face. He takes out his sword and moves it into my body. My eyes close and when I open them I find myself on my bed. The AC was at low temperature still I was covered with sweat. There is some sort of pain in my heart and I'm crying loudly. Hearing this my parents come into the room and console me asking me the reason which I'm not able to explain. Next day, I search about the warrior Abhimanyu on internet and what I read truly inspires as well as haunts me. Maybe it was a dream to teach me that- "We have to face our problems head-on and be ready to sacrifice ourselves for a greater cause".
