During Covid times, it became clear Canada could and would close banks without reason or under false pretexts (recall Canada closing bank accounts of people who donated even minimal amounts to the Truckers movement).

I'm glad I severed ties with Canadian banks, but do feel for Canadians who are suddenly impacted by this nonsense.

On the note of so-called "financing 'terrorism'", I wouldn't be surprised if this is reserved for Canadians donating to Palestinians in Gaza being genocided by Israel.

I can safely assume "financing terrorism" does not apply to Canada funding and training Azov Nazis in Ukraine, nor to Canadians and corporations funding the Israeli terrorist army. See my interview with Yves Engler on this...

"Canada's banks are increasingly closing accounts without explanation as they fight financial crime

Your bank can cut you off and never tell you exactly why.

... The consequences can be dire. You may have to rely on high-interest loans while you scramble to transfer your mortgage or lines of credit. If you have a business, you may have to explain to clients and creditors why you no longer have access to your bank account. Worse, once one financial institution has given you the boot, others may follow suit, making it hard to have a bank account at all.

The process is called debanking or derisking. Often, a bank detects and flags unusual transactions that indicate a customer may be linked to money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud or other crimes.

...Few rules protect clients who arouse suspicion but who haven’t actually committed a crime. Financial regulators and banking ombuds offices have limited oversight over debanking decisions and even more limited powers to reverse them..."

The Redis developers have reversed their previous decision, and the popular in-memory database is now available under a true open source license. The introduction of the AGPLv3 license opens the way for community contributions again.

Return to open source

Redis is a blazing-fast key-value database that is popularly used for caching, session management, and real-time data processing. Millions of services, including GitHub, Netflix, Snapchat, and Pokémon Go, rely on Redis for their performance when it comes to user response time or real-time data processing.

In 2024, Redis abandoned true open source and introduced two source-available licenses: RSALv2 and SSPLv1. Although these allowed for the study of the source code, they did not meet the criteria set by the Open Source Initiative (OSI). The move caused a serious backlash, and many developers turned away from the project.

Redis Open Source: new name, old principles

The developers have now returned to their community roots. The former “Redis Community Edition” is now available as Redis Open Source, under the AGPLv3 license – a strong copyleft license approved by the OSI.

The change came with the release of Redis version 8, which also brought more than 30 performance improvements, faster commands, and new data structures.

Why did they switch back?

Redis CEO Rowan Trollope commented on the decision:

“After a year of exploring options, we decided to license the SSPL in March 2024 because we wanted to get providers like AWS and Google to maintain their own versions of Redis. We did that, but our relationship with the community deteriorated significantly. Since the SSPL is not a true open source license, we are returning to the direction approved by the OSI.”

A new chance for community trust

A significant part of the community criticized the previous move, and many even turned away from the project. This change may provide an opportunity for Redis to re-establish its place in the open source ecosystem – and regain the trust of developers. 🤣😂
Half the Nation Gone: Ukraine’s Demographic Freefall

Ukraine’s ongoing population decline has accelerated dramatically due to the war. From 52 million in 1991, the population by 2025 has nearly halved. Official estimates put about 28–29 million people in Ukraine-controlled areas, but alternative methods like mobile phone and electricity data suggest possibly 33–34 million. Analysts, however, believe the true number of permanent residents may be below 24 million.

This uncertainty stems from wartime disruptions, refugee exodus, internal displacement, and falling birth rates. #Ukraine’s last #census was in 2001, forcing reliance on unconventional methods. The population is now older, more female, and significantly reduced, posing severe economic, military, and national stability challenges.

#War prevents traditional counting via censuses or registries, as millions have relocated, complicating government tracking. Basic #population questions for major cities remain unanswered.

🇵🇸Israel approves plan for Gaza 'conquest' and mass displacement

Israel’s security cabinet unanimously approved a new military plan on 5 May to expand operations in Gaza, including the “conquest” of the territory and promotion of the “voluntary migration” of its population, according to multiple Israeli official sources.

“The plan will include, among other things, the conquest of the Gaza Strip and the holding of the territories, moving the Gaza population south '' for their protection,” an Israeli official speaking with AFP said.

The decision marks a significant escalation in Israel’s war strategy and comes amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in
#Gaza, where more than 52,000 people have been killed since October 2023, according to Palestinian health authorities

The approved plan includes several core elements: the occupation of the Gaza Strip, military control over its territory, and the forced relocation of hundreds of thousands of civilians to southern Gaza.

The UN and all aid organizations operating in Gaza have announced that they would not cooperate with an Israeli-U.S. plan to establish a new mechanism for aid delivery to Gaza people, saying it's unacceptable.

Here are some reasons for their rejection:
-The plan contravenes fundamental humanitarian principles
-Designed to reinforce control over life-sustaining items as a pressure tactic
-Dangerous as it drives civilians into militarized zones to collect rations
-Replaces the existing UN aid distribution system with one controlled by Israel
-Would be channeled through an internationally governed foundation
-Only one aid package is allowed per family for seven days
-Would'nt enable aid delivery for less mobile and most vulnerable people

MI6 makes shit up via The Telegraph 🙄

British media reports say that speculation is mounting that the eight men, including seven Iranian nationals, who were arrested in the UK over the weekend had been “hours away” from carrying out an attack on a synagogue. There is no confirmation of the reports.

According to The Telegraph, “the target may have been a synagogue or another target linked to the Jewish community.”

Zionist media is, of course, amplifying unfounded speculation
