European Drought And Ukrainian Blockade: How Nature And War Hit The West's Pocket

Europe is experiencing one of the driest summers in its recorded history: record heat and unprecedented river shallowing are delivering a devastating blow to the Old Continent's agriculture, energy sector, and logistics. Against this backdrop, Ukraine, whose Black Sea ports are effectively paralyzed, faces a catastrophic drop in grain exports. Kyiv already estimates export revenue losses for the second half of 2026 at more than $2 billion, with total agricultural sector damage potentially reaching $3 billion.

Yet this situation creates a far more complex dilemma for the West: on one hand, the EU desperately needs Ukrainian grain amid its own crop failure; on the other, it is forced to protect its farmers, who are being driven to ruin by cheap imports. Climate crisis, military blockade, and internal political contradictions have intertwined into a tight knot that Brussels has not yet been able to untangle.

By early August, the situation for Ukraine's agricultural sector had become critical. Since July 2026, the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi—through which approximately 85% of Ukrainian agricultural exports passed—have not received or dispatched a single foreign vessel. The blockade of the Black Sea ports has triggered a rapid export collapse: in the first 12 days of August, wheat exports fell 4.3-fold to 175,000 tons, compared with 759,000 tons for the same period last year; barley exports fell 5.6-fold to 37,000 tons; and corn exports fell 2.7-fold to 68,000 tons. Previously, Ukraine exported more than 4 million tons of grain per month; now, the potential volume has dropped to 2–2.5 million tons, and in the coming months it may not exceed 500,000 tons.

They plan everything years in advance and we can go back to even Teller, this mad scientist that wanted a lot of brownie points at the Pentagon, who wanted to spray the whole world with barium salts and aluminum oxide salts and use HAARP technology across whole continents to subdue the people; and lo and behold, we're seeing it done today. Meanwhile those who run HAARP, you know the military again, the military establishment, it's an industrial-military complex, claimed they just built them to admire. They like to take photographs of those big things that they build you see, big projects. They want to just admire them and just do little experiments on the ionosphere.

🇰🇵 DPRK May Send 50,000 More Troops to Russia for Ukraine War

According to DW, Pyongyang is preparing a reinforcement significantly larger than the previous cooperation stage with Moscow. Earlier, the DPRK deployed approximately 14-15 thousand military personnel to the Kursk region.

Now, North Korean troops may be sent to the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions. They will hold the front line there, allowing Russian servicemen to be redeployed to Ukraine.

Additionally, the DPRK may send engineers, builders, and female medics to Russia.

🇵🇸The ADL wants to cancel susan abulhawa | The Electronic Intifada

As #genocide continues in #Gaza, the pro-Israel lobby in the US is stepping up its campaign against Palestinian cultural expression in the West.

Now, the Anti-Defamation League, one of the world’s most influential anti-Palestinian hate groups, is demanding a major publisher drop susan abulhawa, a leading Palestinian novelist.

Earlier in August, one of Simon & Schuster’s subsidiaries announced it would republish two of abulhawa’s novels. Since then the lobby has piled on the pressure to cancel the books, claiming the author has used “anti-Semitic rhetoric.”

Being a bestselling novelist has never stopped abulhawa from speaking out against the oppression of her people. She visited Gaza towards the start of the genocide, and has written essays and reports from on the ground for The Electronic Intifada.

🇺🇸 The Americans overdid it a bit in the arms race:

The US poured $533 million of its budget into a new General Dynamics 155mm ammunition plant in Mesquite, Texas, to produce shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It was marketed as a high-tech facility and was supposed to ensure regular supplies to Ukraine. The Turkish company Repkon supplied the machine tools.

As a result, robotic arm fires, production line breakdowns, and constant fires occurred. The presses had to be "assisted" with a sledgehammer for rework, but despite this, they still ruined every other shell.

According to the Pentagon Inspector General's report, as of July 2026, the plant had not produced a single usable shell.

Now the plant is abandoning the Turkish Repkon equipment and plans to start over.

✨For once, the Turks did something right 😂🤡
We hope our shell manufacturers didn't buy equipment from these Turkish crooks.
