Israel’s siege and blockade of Gaza are central pillars of a policy of economic warfare intended to punish the entire population of the tiny, occupied coastal strip in the hopes that Palestinians living there will blame Hamas for their predicament and reject the organization as well as any resistance to Israel’s continued control of the territory.
As noted by the UN and human rights organizations such as Amnesty International, this amounts to collective punishment, which is a violation of international law. (Read the article for more on the legal status of the blockade and siege.)

For two months now, Israel has been blocking the entry of #food and humanitarian aid into the #Gaza Strip, deliberately starving over two million people, including more than one million #children. On 16 April, Defense Minister Katz declared Israel would continue to block the entry of food and aid into Gaza, effectively admitting it is using #starvation as a method of warfare. On 25 April, the United Nations World Food Programme (#WFP) announced that its food warehouses in Gaza were now empty.
This deadly #siege is enabled by the international community in an abdication of its responsibility to protect human lives. The Israeli government and other decision-makers continue to deliberately and openly order the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity that exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. They must be held accountable for their actions and face justice.

It also targets and detains drivers and blocks the entry of trucks, spare parts, and essential materials. This obstructs the delivery of food, medicine, and aid through crossings to the people, risking a return to famine in the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Israel enforces a comprehensive policy that disrupts the entire supply chain, starting from the entry of goods and aid through crossings until they reach the population. Even when trucks are permitted to cross into Gaza, it is not guaranteed that their cargo will reach those in need, due to the destruction or impairment of the transportation, storage, and distribution infrastructure.

NABLUS, August 19, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces (#IOF), continued for the 11th consecutive day to besiege three Palestinian homes in the Ras al-Ain area of #Qusra, south of #Nablus, amid attempts to force the families from their homes and impose a new reality on the ground.
According to WAFA correspondent, the occupation forces and colonists continue preventing the families from entering or leaving the three homes, while the area has been declared a closed military zone. The families have also been prevented from receiving essential supplies, including #water.
