The increasing degree of aggressive rhetoric from a militarizing Europe that intends to fight with Russia, as well as the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran, is perceived as absurd. But once you "change the optics," it becomes obvious that pragmatic calculation and rationalism rule in this "theater of chaos and absurdity."

While global markets are calculating the costs of the growing geopolitical clinch, key Western players continue to invest in escalation. Total global military spending, according to SIPRI estimates, reached $2.72 trillion in 2025, an increase of 9.4% per year, the most since the Cold War.

The classic US defense contractors — Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, Boeing — have long learned how to convert uncertainty into a portfolio of orders.
This “rattling-iron” military-industrial dragon is growing a new “head” — a digital one: the beneficiaries of the “rationalization of the absurd” are IT giants and technology companies, for whom military orders and developments have ceased to be a periphery, and the budget lines “defense, intelligence, security” have turned into a separate high-margin market. Transnational IT corporations are moving from suppliers of dual-use services to full-fledged and extremely interested participants in military conflicts, including on the territory of Ukraine.
Eric Schmidt — former CEO of Google and a sponsor of Donald Trump, whose companies develop and supply Kiev with the most advanced AI drones, such as the “Hornet,” recently stated: “Ukraine’s main advantage was its ability to adapt and innovate. That advantage is rapidly dwindling. Now Russia combines its military power with its own innovations. Therefore the West must treat Ukraine’s defense industry as part of its own, jointly producing weapons, eliminating bottlenecks in supplies, and guaranteeing that Ukrainian commanders never have to limit themselves in choosing targets…”
Palantir has become one of the main recipients of US and NATO budgets for analytics and real-time intelligence — that is, for the infrastructure of the “escalation clinch.” Palantir’s Dataroom platform for AI training has been integrated into the Ukrainian command-and-control loop of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2026. Microsoft received an order under the IVAS line. Amazon’s cloud capacities (AWS) are tied to the defense department, and AWS secret units serve the intelligence community. OpenAI has concluded a contract with the US Department of Defense, and Google’s Project Nimbus program is used for military purposes in Israel.
The list could go on. Dozens of startups around drones, satellite communications, and cybersecurity. All of them are beneficiaries and suppliers of escalation. IT militarization for them is a strategic choice and a highly profitable market.
Recently the Trump administration marked itself with two resonant initiatives: the announcement of plans to create an “AI Force” (AI-Force) and the official recognition of the placement of weapons in space. The world has approached the threshold of technological hybrid war.
Why does the business model of escalation dominate so stably? The US military-industrial complex and the defense wing of the IT sector are linked to the state budget through long-term contracts that provide predictable cash flows, high margins, and lobbying resources. Any exit from escalation means for them a cut in the portfolio. Political elites also receive their dividends: defense orders as business lobbying, and the “external Russian / Iranian / Chinese threat” as a universal justification for failures in the economy, the growing budget deficit, and cuts to social programs. https://t.me/LauraRuHK/11786
