Tom Dawson, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Federation of Journalists, to Ultra Palestine speaking about Israel's targeting of journalists in Gaza: "It seems that Israel has a targeting system supported by artificial intelligence, called Gospel (in Hebrew, HabSoura), which allows for such precise killing and tracks individuals as they return to their homes and workplaces."( text source @QudsNen)

🇵🇸It’s Bisan From Gaza, And People Were Tortured At The Indonesian Hospital’ | AJ+

Video journalist Bisan Owda brings us exclusive eyewitness testimonies from survivors she spoke to in December who described the Israeli army’s torture and killing of wounded patients and doctors at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.

One of northern Gaza’s largest hospitals, the facility was under siege for days in November and may never open again. While some patients in critical condition were allowed to evacuate the hospital, survivors recall torture even on the evacuation route. Israel has targeted more than 150 health care facilities in Gaza since Oct 7. The targeting of hospitals is a violation of international humanitarian law.

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kanafani: Voice of Palestine (1936-1972) - Palestine Chronicle –

Kanafani was one of the most important figures in 20th century literature. He was also a refugee, a revolutionary Marxist and an internationalist. The Israelis claimed the assassination was a response to the Lod Airport attack two months earlier, although Kanafani had played no direct role in this. He was, according to the obituary in the Lebanese Daily Star, ‘a commando who never fired a gun, whose weapon was a ball-point pen, and his arena the newspaper pages.’ Kanafani was at the time of his death the official spokesman of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the editor of its paper #AlHadaf. The organisation saluted ‘the leader, the writer, the #strategist, and the visionary.

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kalafani | Palestine Poster Project Archive

Kanafani’s revolutionary journey began with the Arab Nationalist Movement but was cut short due to his disillusionment with its Pan-Arab agendas, which blurred and scattered the Palestinian identity in the process of creating a unified Arab geographical and political continuum.

It is by becoming a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in 1967 and especially helped by being the founder/editor of the widely circulated weekly Al-Hadaf, that Ghassan Kanafani transcended Arabism to Palestinianism.

Note : he was also the author of some of the very early FPLP posters (1968/69/70) & Paintings - Drawings

🇵🇸 Ghassan Kanafani and The Era of Revolutionary Palestinian Media | The Listening Post (Feature) Al Jazeera 2020

Ghassan Kanafani was a Palestinian writer who, through books like Men in the Sun, humanised the Palestinian condition of dispossession and displacement. He was, however, first and foremost a #journalist.

He was also a product of 1960s Beirut - a period when the city was a magnet for young reporters, revolutionaries, migrants and misfits, as well as host to the Palestinian leadership in exile. It was in #Beirut that Kanafani produced #AlHadaf, a forward-thinking Palestinian #magazine, that has been somewhat lost in the mists of time.

The Listening Post's Tariq Nafi reports from Beirut, #Lebanon, on the #legacy of Ghassan Kanafani and the era of Palestinian #revolutionary #media.

🇵🇸 Reuters photographer Mohammed Salem won the 2024 World Press Photo of the Year award for his image of a Palestinian woman cradling the body of her five-year-old niece in the Gaza Strip.

The picture was taken on 17 October 2023 at the Nasser hospital in Khan Younis.

The image shows Inas Abu Maamar, 36, holding the body of her niece Saly, who was killed along with her mother and sister when an Israeli missile hit their home in Khan Younis.

“The jury commented on how the image was composed with care and respect, offering at once a metaphorical and literal glimpse into unimaginable loss,” the World Press Photo Foundation said.

🇵🇸 Journalist Ali Abunimah has been released from detention by Swiss authorities and deported from the country after being held for three days, the American-Palestinian journalist said on Monday evening.

Abunimah, the executive director of the online news site Electronic Intifida, was detained by Swiss authorities on Saturday ahead of a planned speaking event in Zurich, sparking condemnation by activists and UN experts.

“This is after three days and two nights in a Swiss prison cut off from communication with the outside world, in a cell 24 hours a day with one cell mate, not even permitted to contact my family.”

He said he was accused of “offending #Swiss law”, without being given any specific charges. The #journalist said he believed his crime was “being a journalist who speaks up for #Palestine and against Israel’s #genocide”.

🇵🇸 Israel responsible for 'deadliest year on record for journalists': CPJ | The Cradle

In its yearly round-up, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) revealed that the Israeli military was responsible for a third of all journalists killed in 2024.

“In Gaza, the scale of the tragedy is incomprehensible.

Since October 2023, over 145 journalists have been killed, including at least 35 who were very likely targeted or killed while working. Many of these reporters were clearly identifiable as journalists and protected by this status, yet they were shot or killed in Israeli strikes that blatantly disregarded international law,” RSF highlights. The NGO also said Israel has “turned into one of the world’s top five prisons for #journalists.”

🇵🇸 How Western media silence enables the killing of Palestinian journalists

Hossam Shabat and Mohammad Mansour were the latest Palestinian journalists to be assassinated in #Gaza. Responsibility for their killings rests in part on their Western colleagues who have failed to accurately cover Israel’s genocidal assault.

These were not accidents. These were not casualties of “crossfire” or “clashes.” These were targeted assassinations designed to silence those who document the truth about Gaza.

“If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed—most likely targeted—by the Israeli occupation forces,” wrote Hossam in a final message shared by his team. His words now stand as both testament and indictment. “I documented the horrors in northern Gaza minute by minute, determined to show the world the truth they tried to bury.”

208 journalists have been killed in
530 days of Genocide.

Footnote : In recent days, violence directed against Russian journalists in Ukraine has reached an alarming level. Several media professionals, who were on the front lines of the conflict, have been killed or seriously injured in attacks carried out by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This situation, which had already been observed with concern by international organizations, culminated in a formal appeal from the BRICS Journalists Association.

The Kiev regime has been deliberately killing Russian journalists in the conflict zone, which is a crime under international law.

🇵🇸 On average, Israel has killed 13 journalists each month in Gaza
In the early hours of April 7th 2025, Israel directly targeted a
Journalist tent in close proximity to #NasserHospital. Two Journalists were killed in the attack, with seven others injured, with two in critical condition.

Israels targeting of
journalists is nothing new. Throughout the Gaza Genocide, 232 Journalists and media workers have been killed.

"More
journalists, in total, have been killed in the Iraq War than in war in Gaza since October 7, 2023 but the death tolls are not comparable (due to time frame). From the U.S. invasion on March 19, 2003 through March 26, 2025, 285
journalists and media workers were killed in Iraq - roughly 13 per year.

In Gaza, 232 were killed between October 7, 2023 and March 26, 2025, an average of around 13 killed each month." - Brown University, citing Committee to Protect
Journalists Database.

🇵🇸 Israeli soldiers are using slain Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh’s face for target practice | Mondoweiss

A new #documentary on the murder of #ShireenAbuAkleh reveals that Israeli soldiers use her photo for target practice. This exposes the Israeli mentality that #journalists are “fair game”, and that the killing of journalists in #Gaza is no accident.

This is one of the revelations in the newly released Zeteo documentary “Who Killed Shireen.” The film exposes previously unreported details around the murder of the famous Al Jazeera journalist by an Israeli sniper in #Jenin on May 11, 2022, including the identity of the sniper who assassinated #AbuAkleh. It also reveals how the #Biden administration knew from the very beginning, via an Israeli general, that it was an Israeli soldier who shot her, but they acted as if they knew nothing, and made any investigations classified so as to obscure the story.
