Google Gets Record Belgian Privacy Fine Over ‘Right to Be Forgotten’

Google was fined a record 600,000 euros ($681,400) by Belgium’s data protection authority for failing to delete links regulators deemed harmful to a person’s reputation under the European Union’s right to be forgotten.

Google was “grossly negligent” by refusing to remove the links to news articles that the authority said involved unproven harassment incidents more than 10 years ago, according to an emailed statement on Tuesday.

Cryptotelephone service Sky cracked in Belgium

Investigation services have again managed to crack a major provider of encrypted crypto phones. According to Belgian media, this is Sky ECC, a provider of these phones that is frequently used by criminals. Rumors that Sky would have been cracked had been circulating for some time.

The Belgian federal police raided 200 places in Belgium on Tuesday morning around 5:00 a.m. 1,500 officers would have been involved in this. According to Belgian media, it was already possible to crack the popular service in December 2020, after which the police and judicial authorities would have read live for a while with the messages that criminals sent each other. Large consignments of drugs allegedly intercepted in the port of Antwerp are attributed to reading along with these messages.

According to the Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerp even two lawyers would have been arrested in a major drug investigation.

New blow to the underworld

Sky was seen as ‘the holy grail’ among encrypted communications providers. Providers such as Ennetcom and PGP-Safe were already cracked and dismantled by the Dutch police. Major criminal cases, such as the Marengo liquidation process, are largely based on the intercepted messages found by the police. In mid-2020, the underworld received another blow, when – again the Dutch police – messaging service managed to crack Encrochat. For three months, the police were able to read the millions of messages that were sent. Through these reports, the police discovered, among other things, the rolled up ‘torture complex’ in Wouwse Plantage.

21 day "compulsory" quarantine for monkeypox issued in Belgium.

>fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, rash and fatigue
Mostly flu symptoms except swollen lymph node and rash

>Monkeypox is usually mild, with most patients recovering within a few weeks without treatment. Yet, the disease can often prove fatal
>No one has died of the viral disease to date

It can be fatal because we don't know how can we make you fear the disease so we can control you in the disguise of public health

> 'We will be releasing updated numbers tomorrow - over-the-weekend figures

So we can create a sense of fear with meaningless statistics

>It comes as it emerged some of the country's top disease experts warned that monkeypox would fill the void left by smallpox three years ago.
>they are also no longer protected against other viruses in the same family such as monkeypox

The World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines recommend getting the existing chicken pox vaccine which is said to be 85% effective against monkeypox.

"But we had varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or had chickenpox when we were kids"

Get our new pox vaccines. I don't care if you had pox vaccines in your childhood or not. We will coerce to our new vaccines because you are ignorant of the cross reactivity

Belgium wants to ban Signal

Last week, the Belgian government launched a proposal that would ban Signal.

Just over seven years ago, a Dutch court threw out the Dutch Telecommunications Data Retention Act. Under that law, telecommunication providers were obliged to retain metadata about our communications for up to two years. This did not concern the content of a message or conversation, but information about who has contact with whom. And when. And the location of the participants. It was almost inevitable that the court would invalidate this law: European judges previously declared the European Data Retention Directive invalid, and the Dutch law was its national implementation.

BELGIUM

On Thursday, Belgium’s Health Minister, Frank Vandenbroucke, announced in a press release that the Federal Government would be enforcing stricter regulations on the sale of Covid-19 masks in the country.

Given that Belgium is currently going through the 7th wave of Covid-19 infection, officials are reminding people of the importance of wearing a mask can have on combating the virus.

Therefore, it is critical that all masks on the Belgian market do not contain harmful substances to citizens.

However, only FFP2, FFP3, and surgical masks are subject to (European) regulations, while disposable and reusable masks are not.

As a result, Frank Vandenbroucke is calling for stricter regulations on the types of masks sold in Belgium.

Market research

In 2021, the Sciensano public health institute conducted a sample-based study of the various masks sold in Belgium to assess any potential health risks they may pose to those who wear them.

They discovered titanium dioxide particles in reusable and disposable masks. These particles are found in sunscreen, toothpaste, and clothing whiteners and inhaling them could be hazardous to one’s health.
