#Donbass - A few photos taken today in Mariupol, of people leaving and those remaining.

Many of the city's inhabitants continue to leave towards Volodarskoe. From there they will be able to travel at their own discretion to the territories controlled by Kiev, or Donetsk or the Rostov region in Russia.

Thousands of people have gathered in front of one of the city's large warehouses to obtain humanitarian aid brought from Russia. Many of them were children.

Most of the inhabitants of Mariupol continue to live in basements and prepare food in the open air. There continue to be a number of corpses in the streets or near the buildings.

Today, Russians and popular militias have taken control of the municipality. Some groups of Ukrainian military are still present in the city. The population is just waiting for the end of these clashes to rebuild their future.

Mariupol, the voices that the West don't not want to hear.

This video is a collection of strong testimonies. They are stories that I came across by chance the day before yesterday, simply wandering through the streets of one of the districts of #Mariupol where the Ukrainian military was stationed until a few days ago. There are similar rumours in every corner of the city. Many, seeing the camera, come alone to recount what they have experienced, as if they felt the need to vent, to unburden themselves.

These are stories that would never find space in many newspapers; rumours that, with extreme cynicism, would be called 'propaganda'. Now these people, who used to be called 'Ukrainians besieged by the Russians', are no longer besieged because the front line has shifted. Here is what they say.

Neighborhood after neighborhood I managed to reach the theater and the nearby building of the SBU (Ukrainian security services). In the streets around continued the fighting. Every now and then a few shots still fall from those parts, so there was too little time for further investigation and to find any witnesses of the events.
After the first accusations from Kiev, talking about hundreds of dead, the denial came through the Ombudsman Denisova.

In those parts you can see groups of people, from other districts, wandering in search of food, water and wood, exploring the city, often without knowing which areas are safe and which are dangerous. This leads to inevitable and constant updating of the death and injury toll.

On February 16, 2022, a full week before Putin sent combat troops into Ukraine, the Ukrainian Army began the heavy bombardment of the area (in east Ukraine) occupied by mainly ethnic Russians. Officials from the Observer Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (#OSCE) were located in the vicinity at the time and kept a record of the shelling as it took place. What the OSCE discovered was that the bombardment dramatically intensified as the week went on until it reached a peak on February 19, when a total of 2,026 artillery strikes were recorded.

By contrast, #Crimea and Donbass are already characterized as "unpromising", as the local population supports the central government and, in fact, sees itself as Russian rather than Ukrainian (zones I and II). It was the conflict of Zones III-XII with Zones I-II that was described in 1957 as most likely, and potentially feasible, to escalate within the #USSR in preparation for its collapse. That said, there are also Areas 3, 4, 5 (Odessa, Kharkiv, Zaporozhye), which the CIA believed in 1957 would have sided with Donbass following the start of the conflict. Therefore, it is interesting to evaluate the map of #Ukraine that the #CIA created in 1957. As we can see, the American plan was implemented 60 years later...
