🇵🇸 Israeli army, intel chiefs give 'final tactical approval' for total invasion of Gaza | The Cradle

Israeli army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and outgoing Shin Bet head Ronen Bar gave final tactical approval on 6 May for plans to significantly expand operations in the Gaza Strip.

“This means that the IOF Southern Commanders, generals, and brigade commanders within the IOF and the Shin Bet already have practical ‘marching’ orders for where to maneuver and with which forces,” the Jerusalem Post reports, highlighting that Tel Aviv must now wait for “the full necessary #IOF reservists to arrive and be ready for action.”

Zamir and Bar's approval came one day after the Israeli security cabinet unanimously green-lighted plans for the “conquest” of Gaza and promotion of the “voluntary migration” of its population.

🇵🇸 Hunger, Malnutrition 'a Daily Reality' for Gaza's Children amid Risk of Famine - UNICEF | Palestine Chronicle

According to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (#IPC) snapshot released on Monday, 470,000 people in Gaza are facing catastrophic hunger (IPC Phase 5), and the entire population is experiencing acute food insecurity.

UN agencies have warned that populations across the Gaza Strip are at risk of famine due to Israel’s blockade, and if aid is not allowed in urgently, it may “be too late for many people.”

“It’s imperative that the international community acts urgently to get aid flowing into Gaza again. If we wait until after a #famine is confirmed, it will already be too late for many people,” the #UN World Food Programme’s Executive Director, Cindy McCain, said in a statement released by the UN Children’s Fund (#UNICEF).

For two months now, Israel has been blocking the entry of #food and humanitarian aid into the #Gaza Strip, deliberately starving over two million people, including more than one million #children. On 16 April, Defense Minister Katz declared Israel would continue to block the entry of food and aid into Gaza, effectively admitting it is using #starvation as a method of warfare. On 25 April, the United Nations World Food Programme (#WFP) announced that its food warehouses in Gaza were now empty.

This deadly #siege is enabled by the international community in an abdication of its responsibility to protect human lives. The Israeli government and other decision-makers continue to deliberately and openly order the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity that exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. They must be held accountable for their actions and face justice.
