Castopod Host is an open-source server made for podcasters who want engage and interact with their audience. Please note that Castopod Host is still under heavy development: it may not be 100% stable and some features are still being developed.

We are a team of entrepreneurs and developers who spent the last ten years developing media content solutions.

We have always been advocates for the open source community, but we coud not find open source solutions for podcasts that suited our needs, so we decided to start The Podlibre Iniative.

The past two decades of organic growth were driven by original audio content producers.
Major digital players and audio content industry are now investing on Podcasts.
Yet, compared to the standards in Social Media and Search Engines, Podcasts - technology, user experience - have not evolved much for the past 20 years.

It is time for all players - Podcasters, Radio Networks, Journalists, Writers and all Voice lovers - to power up podcasts!

This is based on a fork from the popular project AntennaPod as of Feb 5 2024.
Differing from the forked project, this project is purely Kotlin based, relies on the most recent dependencies, and most importantly has migrated the media player to androidx.media3, and added mechanism of AudioOffloadMode which is supposed to be kind to device battery. Efficiencies are also sought on running the app. App build is also upgraded to target Android 14.

Far from its coy, modern day interpretation of the internet as a mere communication technology, Levine makes clear the originator’s plans as well as the surprising resistance to them that followed. Levine explains that at the height of the Vietnam War, when much of America’s youth were protesting and seeking to understand the American empire, people were aware of the large amounts of capital it took to purchase and run computers, capital that only the most powerful in America had access to.

“This history or this understanding [was repressed] and people have been propagandized to view computers in a totally different light, in a benign light, in a utopian light, which was not the case in the 1950s, in the 1960s, in the 1970s and even up into the 1980s,” Levine tells Hedges.

At its centre is the case of Mamodou Taal, a British-Gambian PHD student whose home was then raided by ICE agents in an attempt to arrest him

After failing to get a judge to hear their case, Taal decided instead to leave the United States before he faces the same fate as Mahmoud Khalil and Rumeysa Ozturk.

Israel’s use of propaganda and strategically timed attacks—often lining up with other major world events so as to avoid media scrutiny—has muddied political outlook of the genocide into one of war and defense rather than ethnic cleansing.
