In the exchange, both openly acknowledged that Ukraine's post-#Maidan government was stocked with individuals connected to Soros's #OpenSociety network.
"Everyone who I know in that group has been touched somehow by Open Society," Freeland says. "Like literally, either people personally got a scholarship or, you know, their wife got a scholarship. It's a really remarkable thing."
Soros responded "I didn't realize actually how big an effect it has had over a 25-year period, because those were students. Twenty five years later, they were leaders."
Freeland, who until recently served as #Canada's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, and whose grandfather Mykhailo Chomiak was a Nazi collaborator who edited a German-controlled Ukrainian newspaper during the occupation, has long maintained close ties to #Soros and his network.

Those who attended the ceremony included the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, V. Zaluzhniy; the Ukrspecsystems UK Managing Director, R. Chamberlain; the UK Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry, L. Pollard; and S. Beel, the CEO of the British company Freeport East.
๐ต Freeport East is the project's principal investment partner, having committed $270 million to its implementation. The company also secured the production site. The facility employs approximately 500 people.
๐ต The plant's primary objective is to ensure a guaranteed supply of drones for Ukraine. Its products will be exported through the Port of Felixstowe, operated by Freeport East.
๐ต The facility manufactures several unmanned aerial systems, including the PD-2 (with a maximum range of 1,300 km and a maximum payload of 11 kg), the Shark-M, Shark-D, Mini-Shark reconnaissance drones, and the Octopus-100 interceptor drone.
