GENEVA (16 November 2023) – Grave violations committed by Israel against Palestinians in the aftermath of 7 October, particularly in Gaza, point to a genocide in the making, UN experts said today. They illustrated evidence of increasing genocidal incitement, overt intent to “destroy the Palestinian people under occupation”, loud calls for a ‘second Nakba’ in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory, and the use of powerful weaponry with inherently indiscriminate impacts, resulting in a colossal death toll and destruction of life-sustaining infrastructure.

On 10 November, we woke up and found Israeli tanks right under our window. My family had been taking shelter at the Rantisi children’s hospital for a few days.
What happened before and after we woke up that day demonstrates how Israel lies as a matter of routine.
Contrary to its claims, Israel deliberately causes destruction and damage. Its systematic attacks have been designed to make the functioning of Gaza’s health system impossible.
We have been displaced since 19 October.

Along her journey, she spokewith elderly people on the road, injured children and a doctor about diseases. Israel has ordered an evacuation to the south, but has continued bombing there. The UN says nearly all of Gaza is on the verge of starvation.
On top of starvation, heavy rains, cold temperatures and potential flooding are putting Gazans more at risk of infectious disease.

Israel has shifted the so-called “safe zone” again. First Khan Younis was supposedly safe, but after continuous bombing, Palestinians are now being forced into the barren sands of al-Mawasi.
The narrow strip of land, about the size of the airport, is where Israel wants Gaza’s 2.3 million civilians to relocate to. But the small, undeveloped zone has no infrastructure for safety or survival.
As Bisan Owda shows us, there is no clean water to drink and not enough fuel to keep people warm.

On October 30, +972 published an official document from Israel’s Intelligence Ministry recommending the full-scale expulsion of all Palestinians from Gaza into the Sinai desert. After reports of the Israeli government lobbying for Egypt to accept large numbers of Gaza’s population, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a Likud party meeting that he was actively seeking to “transfer” Palestinians out of the Strip. Calls for mass expulsion, which were on the rise on the Israeli right even before October 7, have become increasingly acceptable in mainstream Israeli discourse.
