The Balance of Payments section of the program, under the sub-heading of Policies and Measures, stated that a “blockchain-based central bank digital currency will be put into practice.” The responsible institution is Turkey’s central bank, with the cooperation of the local Ministry of Finance and Scientific and Technological Research Institution.

“The Digital Turkish Lira system will be integrated with digital identity and FAST,” the official report stated. FAST is a payment system operated by the Turkish central bank.

According to Seymour Hersh, Turkey's agreement to Swedish membership of NATO was the subject of secret negotiations between Biden and Erdogan :

Biden is said to have promised an IMF loan of $11-13 billion. According to Hersh, Turkey is in dire need of money to rebuild the country after this year's two devastating earthquakes.

Hersh, to back up his reasoning, cites a report by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) which states that Turkey "is on the verge of exhausting its usable foreign exchange reserves and having to choose between selling its gold, an avoidable default, or swallowing the bitter pill of a complete policy reversal and possibly an IMF program."

Turkish banks would also run out of dollar liquidity and be unable to "honor their national dollar deposits" in the event of a bank run

Again according to this CFR report, Turkey would have imported Russian gas on credit while Erdogan sold drones to Ukraine and allowed Ukrainian ships to export their grain via the Black Sea.

Turkey has begun taking steps to take over the T4 Air Base in central Syria, the Middle East Eye (#MEE) reported on April 1, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The #T4, also known as #Tiyas, is Syria’s largest air base. It is located in the eastern #Homs countryside, right in the heart of the country.

The United Kingdom-based news website said that plans were underway to reconstruct and expand the air base, with the deployment of Turkish-made Hisar-type air defense systems and advanced surveillance and combat drones.

Regarding the question of prospects, I reiterate:

1) The war will continue "to attrition" and this is extremely disadvantageous for Russia, but it is better than "accelerated capitulation" (even "disguised"). It is very good and great that #Zelensky and his British-American masters are so stubborn - otherwise they would have been given another wonderful and advantageous opportunity to "lead you know who by the nose".

2) In May, we are in for many "major troubles" - both in the narrow military and military-political "theaters of military operations". The enemy has serious "held" reserves, and our forces in a number of directions are seriously depleted by continuous but ineffective attacks. Nevertheless, we do not have a "fatal inevitability of major defeats" - much depends on the tactical actions of the enemy and our own command.

3) The strategic situation for #Russia continues to rapidly deteriorate - #Britain, #France and #Italy are gradually, "sneakingly" being drawn into the war. #Romania and #Turkey are next in line (and in the future, Poland + the "Baltic bastards"). In 2018, #Russia advised #Syria that its army needed bottom-up rehabilitation, and Damascus was faced with the challenge of needing to shore up $200 billion in reconstruction nationally. As Syria struggled with these reconstructive challenges, #Assad resorted to reconciliations and negotiations that put a defensive approach in the backseat - but the foundation enabling an easy collapse, mutiny, and takeover had been set, 6 years before #HTS’ late November 2024 invasion...

IGOR STRELKOV ON ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON IRAN

An attack on Iran has long been expected: I believe that without permission, coordination and direct support from the United States, Israel would not have done anything like this, especially on such a large scale. This is, of course, not a limited action, given the number of casualties among Iran's top military and political leadership. Iran will, of course, respond, and, in my opinion, is already responding.

In general, we have the beginning of a major Middle East war, in which Iran's position is very weak. Why weak? Because Israel has superbly prepared the field for its attack by taking a series of consistent actions. First, they "removed" the Iranian president, who supported #Syria and #Assad. The next Iranian president withdrew troops from Syria, which greatly weakened the position of the Syrian government.

Accordingly, within two weeks Syria was defeated and destroyed: most of it came under Turkish control, and a significant part under Israeli control (the strategically important Dutch Heights). Now Iran has virtually no way to reach Israel by land without entering into direct confrontation with #Turkey. And Turkey has a very strong army, and it will be very difficult for Iran to fight it.

Now Israel, naturally, using its significant superiority in missile and aircraft weapons, is striking Iran, without counting on a serious and truly painful response.
